Just back from our fourth stay at these lovely cottages and we’ll certainly be back!!!! Grand place, grand welcome and excellent value. Everything to hand and nothing too much trouble………including the delivery of the mobility scooter for the duration of our stay.

My wife and I rented "The Loft" and "Dovedale" cottages for our group of 11. These cottages are an absolute gem. Lovely location, beautiful cottages and wonderful, informative and friendly owners. The cottages were clean, modern amenities yet with rustic look. What a deal for a weeks rental. John, the owner, recommended a local pub, "Railway Inn" for our pleasure after a day of exploring and that was also a hidden gem and very close by. I highly recommend these cottages and hopefully will be able to rent again the next time we visit Ireland.

I stayed here for 6 nights and rented both cottages with my family. We loved our stay here and really found time to unwind and relax. The cottages are in a fantastic location, close to town, and Oonagh is a fantastic host as she is friendly and helpful. The cottage is well set out and it was lovely to have to the privacy of our own bathrooms and a big laundry. The heating works well, but unfortunately we got cold at night when it turned itself off.

The few downsides that we found were to do with missing homely touches; particularly in the bathrooms. For 6 nights, 2 toilet rolls didn't last long at all, and it was a shame to only have one towel each. There was no soap left, or basics such as bath gel. There was some soap in the hand pumps, but in most bathrooms they were empty. The bathrooms weren't quite up to stratch with the cleanliness of the rest of the cottage either, with lots of dust and hair on the roof and shower. The most disappointing part however, was not having any wood left for the fire and being told we had to buy our own - for the price of the cottages, this was crazy!

We loved our stay and I would definitely recommend these cottages to others, I would come back - but my overall observation says they're 4 star, not 5.

We recently returned from our second trip to Golfkeel Cottages in Banbridge Northern Ireland. We stayed in The Loft which is one of three cottages owned by John & Oonagh O'Neill. The three cottages are located on the same property which makes it perfect for large families. We chose the Loft because of the rustic yet modern decor. The Loft contains 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and all of the modern conveniences. We love the original stone walls which are in the living room, kitchen and upstairs bedroom. It is very cozy and inviting. Golfkeel is very conveniently located. It is surrounded by beautiful scenic farmland which gives you the feeling that you are very much in the country yet you are only a 5 minute drive into the town of Banbridge. There is also a Golf Course which is adjacent to the cottages.

John and Oonagh keep the cottages in excellent condition and always very clean. They live very close by in the event that you need anything. John is very knowledgable about the area and is more than happy to give you tips on sightseeing.

A car is necessary unless you are just planning on relaxing and not going anywhere. There isn't really anywhere that you can easily walk to. The town of Banbridge is a nice size town with some nice stores and good restaurants and pubs. The large Tesco supermarket is a short drive away. There is a small market on the main street of Banbridge. It is approximately a 35 minute drive into Belfast. Banbridge is a convenient location for visiting the Giants Causeway, The Bushmill Distillery and the Carrick A Rede Robe Bridge which are all within a 15 minute drive of each other. The Titanic Museum in Belfast is a must see. Dublin is approximately a 90 minute drive to the South.

Golfkeel is a beautiful place to stay for your trip to Northern Ireland. To view photos look at the website www.golfkeel.co.uk John will answer any questions you may have.

We have just spent a lovely Christmas break in these beautiful cottages. When we were searching for a place for all of our family to get together we never imagined we would come across this hidden gem. I can only but recommend them and as another reviewer has put it they were our "Home from Home". The rooms were spacious, clean and very, very comfortable. Beautiful surroundings and in a quite location, just what we needed. Very well equipped (we had 11 adults for a full Christmas Lunch) Thanks again to the owners who went out of their way to make our stay a Christmas to remember.

We had booked these cottages for a family wedding here in Banbridge and all off us had travelled from Canada, this was also our summer holiday so we could stay as a group 18 in total. The cottages web site looks good but the actual cottages are far more impressive, the old stonework, and looking as the visitors book the comments are excellent.
The cottages were spotless the gardens and window boxes in full bloom.
And our hosts were very help full all cottages had three ensuite bedroom and one cottage had four bathrooms. The Men played golf which was only 200 yards away and the kids played pitch and put at the driving range. And only £2.50 taxi fare into Banbridge less that one mile away.Evert thing we wanted was there even some sun the kids loved the large garden and played tennis and socer. And we were free to go shopping visit the Outlet if looking for a bargin.

Room Tip: Cottages can be booked to geather for the larger group in 6,12,18. we are back in March 2011
