“Great Base to Explore North Coast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2014

Great place to stay if exploring the Causeway Coast. Rooms are of a good size and clean. We ate in Elliotts Bar for one of the nights that we stayed and the service and food were both excellent.

Breakfast was good with a varied selection of cooked or continental breakfast available form the self service buffet. Again, staff were very pleasant and food was good.

Our room was in the annex part of the hotel which is connected to the main hotel by a covered hallway which means if the weather is bad there is no need to go outside.

The small downside was we had some inconsiderate guests who rather than closing doors let the door closer slam the doors shut, which echoed along the hallway. I am not sure if there is anything by way of a soft closing mechanism could be investigated by the hotel to stop this happening.

Apart from this small issue which the hotel could do nothing about we had a great stay at the Lodge Hotel and will probably stay here again.

Visited on Saturday night with my family , 4 adults, at around 6pm.Given a table immediately and we hadn't booked. We had table 39 , the only complaint was the table beside was very close , it also had 4 adults and a baby in high chair . You couldn't even walk between tables and elbows had to kept close to sides when eating. Beside us there was a 2 seated at a table large enough for at least 6 . Menus given as we seated and drinks order taken . Good choice of various chicken , pork, steak and vegetarian dishes. Order taken and food didn't take long considering it was busy. We had chicken goujons with dip, gammon , combo no5 grilled chicken and steak and pasta. Portion of chips on small side , we ordered another portion . It took a long time to arrive , had asked staff about it , eventually came when our meal nearly finished. All food very tasty and arrived hot .Waiting Staff polite and friendly. We didn't have pudding as no room left. Family of 4 without drinks cost around £60. Will definitely be back .

As part of the Welsh National Boat Fishing Team, I stayed at the Lodge Hotel during the first week of August. We found the service to be absolutely excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all friendly and service was definitely their watch word and it all came naturally too them. I must recommend the food as it was top quality and plentiful, I definitely recommend the ribs in the bistro (delicious), I couldn't finish them along with the cheesy mash.
Clean, tidy, well appointed rooms and a very warm welcome; what more do you need. I strongly recommend this hotel. 5 star service.

First time at buffet lunch here. Wealth of choice for help yourself cold starters. Option of two different soups. I could have had the starter happily for mains as well. Usual meat, potato and veg choices or for vegetarians dishes which were ordered on arrival. One quibble here though as four options were on menu and only two were actually available. Pepper choice was good though it arrived long before others got to front of queue for their meat. It would help if meat was sliced ready for people to help themselves. Fantastic array of desserts so hard to make a choice. Tea or coffee to finish. Will be back.

I am delighted to read you enjoyed your Sunday Carvery at the Lodge Hotel. Thank you for highlighting there were 4 options on the vegetarian menu yet only 2 were available. This was a mistake on our part and the menu has been amended accordingly. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to welcoming you again soon for a second visit.

We went for something to eat, and were delighted to notice on the table a £12.50 deal. You get a mains and either starter or sweet and coffee. We went for mains and desert. My desert was the biggest i have ever seen in my life! Food excellent and staff very nice. Tip - allow time as this was a very busy place when we were in just before 6pm.

We got married back in June and we had our wedding reception at the Lodge Hotel, I have nothing but praise for the service we received running up to our wedding and the big day itself. If anyone is considering here for there reception please do so as it was perfect. Carol the manager could not have done enough for us, she put my wife to be at ease as the big day drew closer and I cannot state clearly enough how good and efficient she is. I hope the owners realize the gem they have as a manager and give her a well deserved pay rise. On the day itself the staff were fantastic, everything was timed perfectly, the room was lovely and the food was delicious. I wanted to play a prank on one of the guests to do with his seating arrangement and Carol was only too happy to oblige and everyone had a real good laugh. TBH as with many weddings you do get the odd hic up but I can honestly say this was not the case with the Lodge, Carol was more like a friend the whole time we dealt with her and knowing she was there herself on our big day we knew we could relax even more. So a very big thank you to all the staff at the Lodge and especially to Carol for helping to make our perfect day perfect.
