“Fantastic find”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

We had a good three hours looking around at all of the exhibits in this stunning gallery.
The paintings were of particular interest as there is a special exhibit at the moment of Rossetti paintings/sketches/chalks/ of Jane Morris. Superb and worth the 5 hour drive just for this.
100% recommended. It's free with a free audio guide available and a lovely tea room and shop too.

“A gem”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

We visited on the hunt for the work of Edward Coley Burne-Jones - and were not disappointed. The gallery houses five of his paintings including the The Beguiling of Merlin. Our visit coincided with an exhibition about the inspiration offered by Jane Morris to Rossetti - a delightful set of sketches and studies. The gallery itself is a joy, small and human scale with very helpful and informative staff. The only downside is that some of the lighting detracts from really seeing the paintings as there is so much reflection at certain angles.

“Stunning collection”
Reviewed 20 August 2014

If you can you should join an organised trip around this gallery. (this can be booked on arrival) I thought it would be dry and boring but it was utterly fascinating. The guide talked about how and why some of the paintings were acquired and used to help the business of Levers and gave us potted life histories of some of the portrait subjects.
It is a treasure house!
