Owner description: Wirral Transport Museum & Heritage Tramway has been preserving Merseysides transport past since the opening of the tramway in 19994 - you can see at our museum our full collection of fully restored working heritage trams - restored vintage buses, classic cars, vintage motorcycles, a huge working model railway and lots lots more

The museum:
Hidden down Bridge street you would not suspect that such an amazing source of local cultural history lies FREE to visit and enjoy. The trams and buses are immaculately well maintained inside and outside and most are open to explore and touch. For anyone that lives in the area and has any interest in transport the museum is a must
The tram ride:
For a mere £2 return you can experience what it must have been like to travel on trams in the 20th century. Very juddery and shaky, yet extremely gratifying, I honestly would recommend this to anyone.

A ten minute trip on an old tram (or a new one in our case, from Hong Kong in 1991) from Woodside ferry terminal (just downhill from Hamilton Square station) to the tramway museum. £2 return on tram (with concessions) and free at the museum (more trams, buses, cars, bikes, and a model railway). Worth the trip over the Mersey.

I'm too young to remember the trams but we have all heard the stories and seen the black and white photos. This short trip is a real taster of a by-gone time. The kids loved it and, at £2.00 return for adults and half price for kids, it's not going to break the bank.

The heritage tramway runs from Woodside ferry terminal to the Transport museum.

It is fantastic to see the old trams working. They are over 100 years old so its amazing to see them still working.

The trams are restored fantastically well to an excellent standard. Getting on one really is like stepping back in time.

The conductor and driver are dressed in period uniform and the price is a bargain at only £2 return from Woodside to the transport museum.

It is only a short journey of approx 5 minutes each way but you do get the full authentic experience. The only downside is that there really isnt alot to see outside on the way to either destination. But as its only a short ride, that time is taken up in awe of the old tram and the internal decoration.

Definatly worth a trip of you are in the area.

took niece and son and friends and all had a great time. The drivers and conductors and museum staff couldnt have done more to make our 7yo happy. He was in his element! I wish all museums were similar. Its a great little track and a really good experience for younger and a superb memory for older (me). Simply loved it.
