“Our home from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2008

A one word review of our stay with Moreen at the Redbrick Country House/Grey Gables would have to be"EXCELLENT".

We have been staying with Moreen on a regular basis since 2003, first at Redbrick Country House and lately at Grey Gables. The accomodation is first rate, clean, comfortable with good food and a relaxed atmosphere. We have to say every time we go back it's with a happy heart and we look forward to staying with Moreen every time.

Breakfast time is to be cherished, full Irish and easy going chat before you go on your way.

"You arrive as a stranger but leave as a friend!"

We stayed have just got back from our first stay in Ireland and what a wonderful place to stay. Red Brick Country House is 'home from home' and Maureen works hard to ensure your stay in her home is first class. Choice of breakfast times, so no rush in the morning unless you want to. I am a wheelchair user, and there is a ramp entrance at the back of the property, fully accessible bathroom. Only thing I would advise is to ask for the cupboard by the side of the bed to be relocated if you need to transfer on to the bed from a wheelchair.
Maureen provides a lovely cooked breakfast and spotlessly clean home, fresh towels every day, comfy bed and beautiful lounge to relax in if required.
The location is set in a beautiful area with country views to die for and very quiet so sure of a great nights sleep.
Already planning a return visit next year.

I stayed at the Redbrick/Greygables guest house recently with my 8 year old daughter. What a great place to stay!
Our room was large with a double and a single bed and a great view over surrounding countryside. It was quiet and peaceful and in the morning you were lucky if a tractor went passed! Having said that, it was only about 5 mins from Portadown and 5 mins from the motorway so was easy to get to.
The house we stayed in (Greygables) was about 100m down the road from the owners house. It is a very large detached house with about 5 different bedroom set ups. Downstairs there is so much space you could have your own spave or sit with other guests to discuss places visited. The house is beautifuly decorated and filled with loads of interesting ornaments that my daighter loved to explore.
Outside, the house is surrounded b a gravel driveway and a grass border. Again, my daughter loved to just run aroun with no risk from cars ot other vehicles.
Breakfast was served at a whatever time you wanted, a full breakfast that fill you up for the day.
The owner is a retires Irish lady who is absolutely lovely. She made sure we had everything we needed, was alwas on hand for advice and ideas about where to go.
We had a fabulous stay and I will definately be going back with my other daughter. Would not stay anywhere else.

On my many journeys home to Portadown - eight times a year - to visit firstly my parents and now my elderly father, I have over a period of some 8 years stayed with Moreen at the Redbrick Country House annex called Grey Gables - a marvellous big country house surrounded by open fields and the quietness and greeness one expects of Ireland. Having travelled the world for some 40 years I can state that no where has continually offered the hospitality, friendliness and good humour that can be found on a daily basis and all hosted so well by the marvellous owner. I, my wife and my sons have always found it a first class place to relax and would commend it to anyone wishing to have a welcome break for business, commerical or holiday visits.

We have stayed here at least once a year for the past 5 years and have never been disappointed. Moreen is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious, modern and spotless. Cannot recommend highly enough.

And the Full Irish Breakfasts speak for themselves!

HI there,
I am from holland and was looking to stay somewhere in the country of Armargh. I was gladly surprised to find that this place gives you what is promised. Tranquility, clean, great hospitality. And very conveiniantly located. An ideal spot to go in all directions.
I planned to stay one night but in the end stayed the entire week.
A big plus is the possability to use the kitchen, if one wants to stay in and cook a meal yourself. The Redbrick Country guesthouse has a groundfloor room that is adapted for invalid use. I stayed there the first night. One house futher on is where I stayed the rest of the week. It is called 'Grey Gables'. The rate is fair. 35 pounds a night.
Enjoy!
