upon reading the previous review, i would like to state that my stay at the kings court hotel was wonderfull. The accomodation was just what any body on a short break wants, a clean room, double bed and a bit of privacy. The food was outstanding as was the service and it all helped to achive the effect of a pleasent stay. the only negative thing i can say is that i hadn't booked for longer.

we had made reservations at the kings court hotel some months prior, as my partners daughter was holding her wedding reception there.
On arrival we informed the receptionist that we had a reservation and would like to check in.
The receptionist said " if your room is ready, we were fully booked last night! with attitude- as if she was doing us a favour? none the less we were very polite as this was a very special weekend especially for my partner and his elderly mother.
The receptionist went off to check if the room had been cleaned, and on return informed us, that housekeeping had just finished and we could check in.
on arrival at the room, it was one of the worst hotel rooms I had seen for years, although it appearred that the room was in need of refurbishment, desperately so. as long as it was clean I was willing to overlook this.
After being in the room a couple of minutes my partner noticed that in the alcove above the built in wardrobe the wall was totally covered in cobwebs, not a few cobwebs spun in the last day, week or month, but a mass of thick cobwebs that had been there so long and collected so much dirt and dust it was like garlands sweeping across the wall.
(A little rustic charm is one thing, but this looked as if the special effects department of a film production company had " spun their magic" ready for the next scene of a 1960s horror film to be shot)
My partner politely informed the receptionist in person, where upon she moved us to another room, stroppy attitude in attendance.
This room was identical to our previous room ( minus cobwebs) but none the less in dire need of re-painting, re-carpeting and re-furbishing throughout ( very grubby indeed) lighting was exceptionally poor- not the hotel for you if you like reading.
The room we were staying in was not part of the main hotel, but a room outside ( motel style)
The wedding was nice, the hotel was appalling and some staff seemed to be in ignorance That they were in the hospitality trade!
On checking out, the tariff of the room was a lot more than we were previously informed when we had paid our deposit some time before.
This is the sort of hotel that gives poor service, poor value and unfortunately gives the British tourist industry a bad name.
