“Excellent Accomodations and Antrim Coast Location”

My wife and I stayed for five weeks from October19 until November 21, 2013. Our two adult children joined us for the last two weeks. This was our third stay at Heather Cottage and once again it was everything you could ask for in a vacation rental. Heather and George provide everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location is close to the Antrim coast a short distance by car or a nice walk to the Strand and the Promenade. A short drive up the coast is Dunluce Castle, the Giants Causeway and the Carrick-a Rede rope bridge. The views as you drive along the coast road are some of the most spectacular in all of Ireland. The Ulsterbus provides easy access to Portrush and Coleraine and the train station in Coleraine provides daily access for visits to Derry ,Belfast and even Dublin.
After a day of sightseeing you get to return to a very comfortable cottage in a quiet neighborhood with all the comforts of home including satellite TV and WiFi.
Having stayed here three years in a row I can honestly say that you would be hard pressed to find a nicer place or nicer hosts than Heather and George.
My family highly recommends Heather Cottage to anyone visiting Northern Ireland

Pretty level bungalow on a quiet cul-de-sac, with walking distance for groceries and into scenic Portstewart. Off street parking. Well maintained, clean, bright and cheerful with large windows and privacy, modern easy to use appliances and all the small necessities, comfy support mattresses, dependable wifi and cable tv service. Level fenced in courtyard cheerful for relaxing outdoors with provided patio furniture and a BBQ, and an available furnished cabin. Friendly owners Heather and George Barr, were extremely helpful with instructions to run Heather Cottage, also current on local events.

5 star cottage which had everything one would ever require and also a lovely outdoor paved area--also with every facility--and to all this add a warm and friendly welcome from the owners Heather and George--recommended without reservation--1st class

“The perfect spot to explore the Causeway Coast!”

The 11 days we spent at Heather Cottage were a total joy. Our hosts the Barrs went out of their way to ensure our every need was met, including bringing an extra bed to the house to accomodate our large group. The home is beautiful, with clean new furnishings, all the utensils one could ask for, and a fantastic yard complete with Barbeque and summer cottage for luxury outdoor living. Cable tv and wireless internet connections made it possible for us to stay in touch with the rest of the World when we wanted to, but we mainly kept them off to enjoy the peaceful serenity of our lovely lodgings.

This is a comfortable, friendly and extremely well-equipped bungalow in a very quiet close on the edge of Portstewart. It's ideally placed for trips along the Antrim / Derry coastline and a great place to come back to and put your feet up.

We stayed at Heather Cottage for 5 nights in September and were extremely impressed with the accommodation. The cottage's facilities were excellent and it had everything we could ever need. Heather and George, the owners, were so warm and welcoming and always available to help with any queries.
Location-wise the cottage is well situated on the outskirts of Portstewart with a large Tesco supermarket less than a minutes drive away which was extremely convenient. It is possible to walk into the picturesque coastal town within 20 minutes.
I would thoroughly recommend Heather cottage and wouldn't hesitate to book next time we come to visit family in Northern Ireland.

“Heather cottage is abundantly and exceedingly more than you could ever ask for in a holiday let.”

Located in a quiet cul-de-sac Heather cottage is abundantly and exceedingly more than you could ever ask for in a holiday let; it truly has that home from home feeling.
The accommodation is clean (sparkling clean home at that!), well furnished, very comfortable, and inviting therefore it’s very easy to settle in quickly and enter into holiday mode There isn’t one single thing you would need that Heather doesn't already have in the house, whether you want to cook (inside or out), read, (loads of books available) pack a picnic or play a game with the kids. The house has all the conveniences of home. The kitchen is very well equipped and can cater for all your cooking needs. The bedrooms have ample storage space for clothes and comfortable beds with crisp clean sheets. The bathroom and ensuite are stocked with towels. There is a large TV in the lounge (Sky digital) and one in the main bedroom plus a DVD player with a selection of films to watch for entertainment. Heather and George have also provided plenty of literature on local attractions and events plus you’ll find a list of restaurants, including some menus. There’s a private garden courtyard, bordered with a variety of plants, where you can relax in while sipping a glass of wine or read a book in the quiet of the summer house. You’ll just love it !!!

Within walking distance there’s a Tesco’s store that can provide all your grocery needs so you don’t have to pack your entire pantry into the car before setting off on holiday. If you fancy a take away check out Gareth’s Tradition Fish and Chip Shop as the food is very tasty. When dining out Ramore Wine Bar at the harbor in Portrush is a must for fantastic food at a great price, while there you should have at least one pint of Guinness in the Harbor Bar.

Morning walks along the Strand at Portstewart can be very invigorating and refreshing. Best to conclude your walk with a coffee and read of the newspaper in one of the many coffee shops located along the front of Portstewart. Evening strolls along the promenade are best enjoyed with a Morelli’s Ice Cream.

Coleraine town is several miles away and is an ideal place for some shopping therapy. Lunch or coffee and a scone at Rocca are recommended.

Should you want to attend a church service Portstewart Baptist is friendly and welcoming as is Portrush Presbyterian.

After chatting to George and Heather Barr for the first time they’ll leave you feeling like you’ve known them for a lifetime. They’re very warm, welcoming and friendly.
