“If your looking for tranquillity then this is the place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

I booked a two night living social deal at the Prince Leopold to coincide with a pony trekking adventure at the White Horse Trekking Centre. Upon arrival it was like being transported into a world of peace and tranquillity. The hotel staff were helpful at all times and could not do enough to accommodate an extremely enjoyable stay. The rooms were basic but clean and comfy and were sufficient for what we needed. The menu initially seemed quite pricey. However every meal we had was delicious and worth every penny.
If you are looking for somewhere in the country, where you can amble in the countryside and sip a glass of wine, or cider by the river whilst feeding the wildlife then this is the place to be.
Worth every penny and we will definitely be returning.

First ever review on TripAdvisor...My boyfriend and I stayed for one night over the Easter weekend. The new owners (they've been there for about 4 months now) couldn't have done anything more to look after us! Lovely and relaxed but nice and smart too. We had drinks by the babbling River Wylie in their riverside garden and I was recommended an award-winning G for my G&T. We ate evening meals - I had delicious aged t bone steak & chips and my boyfriend had fish & chips (apparently their speciality, confirmed by the fact that half the diners in the restaurant had ordered it!). Lovely service. The only down side was the bathroom of our room could do with a bit of modernising to bring it up to the same standard as the rest of the Prince Leopold - although I gave them the benefit of the doubt as we got a great price on our room and they can't be expected to do everything in the first few months of owning it (the bed-room part was wonderful). Oh, and some nice local cheeses for the cheese board is a must! Inherited bathrooms and cheeses aside, we had a lovely and relaxing stay, halfway along our two-day walk of the River Wylie.

We stayed at the Leopold last weekend, a large group of us for an event nearby. Upon arriving our lunch took over 2 hours to arrive, after continuous chasing from the less than competent staff. The evening meal was even more or farce, meals delivered at all times, and at one point we were told by the waiter that it was our fault for ordering out of order, and that he had "no idea how the steaks were cooked", and which was a medium or rare. On delivery of the second steak the comment was "how should I know about this one, when I did not know the one before". Breakfast the next day was equally amusing, when asked the waiter told us he had no idea what was on offer !!!

Rooms were adequate and clean, plus quiet location. Internet did not work at all. The new owner seemed less than interested in her guest or managing her staff who clearly were doing exactly as they pleased. We left shortly after, not being able to face another lunch and headed to The Carrier Pub in Stockton, which after also having new owners is a delight and breath of fresh air.

If the new owners are going to survive they need to step up their game, Such a shame for a lovely location.

Sue and I have just spent the May bank holiday weekend at one of the loveliest little hotel/restaurants just outside Warminster in Upton Lovell. We were actually allowed to take our two golden retrievers Dylan and Ellie who were fussed just as much as we were. Excellent accommodation, customer service to die for, fabulous food and some delightful after dinner beverages which were unknown to us. Excellent spot for a few relaxing days especially during the summer months as you can dine overlooking the bouncing trout in the river Wylye. Well done John and Lisa and thank you for such a memorable stay....

First time ever written review on TripAdvisor. This is an excellent place to stay. Went over to take part in Judgment Day (Obstacle Course Event). Arrived late Friday, and despite kitchen being closed John made us dinner, and was up the next morning at 630am to make us breakfast before we headed to the Course. Staff throughout our stay could not have been more helpful. Huge thank you, if visit the area again will definitely be back. Food and drink brilliant.

Dropped in at the last minute on the way through to Warminster.
They were able to accommodate a party of 6 without any notice and gave us our own room so our nephew could play without disturbing anyone.
The food was delicious and delivered rapidly (huge child portions!) with a friendly and welcoming smile from the proprietors.
Well worth taking the short detour to find...

We had lunch here recently. So many people have written glowing reviews, that I can only think we went on the wrong day. The food was mediocre, and not inexpensive for what it was, as was the service, and so slow that half our party had to leave before pudding - at least an hour and a half after we arrived! The place itself is pleasant, with an airy dining room and a garden going down to a small river, but something needs to be done about the kitchen and the waiting staff.
