We stayed at Monkton Barn for two nights and it was absolutely perfect!
Charlotte was absolutely lovely. She provided lots of information before our visit and went out her way to make sure we were comfortable during our stay! If we ever had a question we would text her and she would be over in minutes. She provided breakfast goodies, milk and lovely apple juice. She even let us look after her dog Lola which was loads of fun.
The property itself was a fantastic size, warm, clean and had a great kitchen and bathroom. The shower was amazing! The wifi was fantastic, high speed, and there were even boosters for EE phone reception. The barn is away from their main property so there is absolutely no concerns that it doesn't feel private! Overall was just a perfect place.
The local area was fantastic, with lots beautiful views. We went on a little 2 hour hike, with Lola for company, and it was absolutely stunning out. Such nice scenery! We stayed primarily to be close to Longleat and were there in a short drive. We also had a day in Bath which is also a short drive away.
Overall it was a fantastic stay and we will definitely return when we go on another Wiltshire adventure.
This tiny cottage is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting the attractions in Wiltshire and Dorset. Nestled in a beautiful orchard in the tiny village of Monkton Deverill this peaceful cottage has a well equipped kitchen where the owner Charlotte provides all you need for a hearty breakfast.
Nothing is too much bother, very helpful in offering to bring shopping etc if needed during your stay as the nearest shops are a car drive away.
No living room with this cottage, but not necessary if you are out and about sight seeing all day. Sufficient parking for 2 cars and as many apples as you want from the orchard!
Looking forward to another stay here in the future.
You will need a car, but this also means its very quiet and you are only a short drive from everything. There is also no cellphone signal but the wifi is very good, meaning you can escape pesky phone calls and relax while scoping out the next visiting place. The owners themselves seem lovely although we were greeted by the neighbour instead (who was also very nice). However all the information we could need was provided and they thoughtfully have a light on the keys as its so dark. It is not perfect, the blinds do not block out the sun so you wont be sleeping in, and the place could use a bit more attention to the cleaning, although far from dirty. Also bring your own flannels. Good points however far outweigh this, with a tidy cottage that had lovely water pressure and well thought out utensils. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room. The breakfast stuff provided was yummy just be careful of the kettle as this does not switch itself off.
MONKTON BARN: A gorgeous nest in the middle of the British countryside,
Sourronded by rolling hills, by peaceful green meadows with horses and sheeps, this wonderful option for accommodation is also a part of a house with splendid gardens plenty of beautiful flowers and cozy corners. Monkton Barn was undoubtedly an exquisite choice that allowed us to enjoy many unforgettable and pleasant days.
It has a spacious bedroom with TV and with windows looking out onto a little apple orchard. The bathroom is comfortable, with a bathtub and a medium-sized window that allows you to enjoy another beautiful view.
An enjoyable and full kitchen, with all you need for preparing your meals with the delicious natural ingredients of the area. Breakfasts with the most spectacular fresh eggs from the hens of the property.
But the best of everything is the exquisite owners Charlotte and James (they have a wonderful library!!!) and their daughter Phoebe. Make your reservations in advance enough: otherwise we will take the place before you.
