We used the George as an overnight stay on Saturday night. The online booking was easy and we called to book a table for a meal in the evening. It is a nice friendly Inn in a lovely setting and very popular. The staff are very helpful and create a relaxed and informal atmposhere. Decent selection of beers/wines. The food in the restaurant is excellent and very reasonably priced, I can recommend the pork belly and after the sticky toffee pudding you won't want for anything else. The full english breakfast is cooked to order and a great way to set you up for the day.
The only thing that took the edge of the stay was the fact that the roomwe were allocated was above the function room where there was a wedding party and disco. The music stopped at midnight and as i was staying with friends it didn't really bother us too much, but for couples, it could have been a problem. The Inn do try and reserve rooms 1 to 5 for guests attending a function if they know that is the case but if you book online you could be allocated any room which is what happened to us. They are aware of this and trying to sort the problem so I've still given it a 4*.More
