“Nice stay.”
Reviewed 16 August 2013 via mobile

We stayed for four nights and I have to say that this is a nice place to stay. All the staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. I would recommend the food which was excellent, although more choice would be nice and the pie of the day didn't change throughout our stay. The breakfast was fantastic! The only down side to the hotel is that the decor is really tired and needs a good spruce up. If your thinking of visiting Warminster and want a good value for money place to stay then this is it.

We visited for a one night stay on a Sunday evening, using as a stopover in between visiting friends at Centreparcs and doing the safari park the next day.
Booked the Old Bell Inn due to its very convenient location for Longleat and the cost of the room for 4 of us. 2 adults and two kids (2 and 4 yr olds). - cost us about £60 through late rooms I think.
You should 'price in' your expectations before you arrive...so long as you're not expecting the Ritz then you should enjoy the clean rooms, which were larger than expected (ours was anyway) and the staff were extremely polite and helpful. Didn't have any problems regards hot water (was mentioned by a previous reviewer). Yes, the floorboards have 'character' and the decor is a little tired, but overall was clean and the bed was comfy and that's all we were looking for!
Breakfast was brilliant, it really was. Tea / coffee / fresh orange. We had full English's and was really nice....very nice thick bacon and the sausages were lovely too. We had the added bonus of having to eat an extra one of the kids cos they could only just manage sharing one between them.
If your planning a similar stay to ours then I have no hesitation in recommending The Old Bell Inn.

We spent a weekend here and used it as a base for visting Longleat. We were warned about the 2am disco on Saturday night, but it wasn't too bad as the disco was in the main building and our room was at the other side of the courtyard. The noise was mainly due to people talking in the courtyard rather than disco sounds.

The room was clean and comfortable, with character exposed beams and creaking floors, but had all the usual facilities such as tea/coffee making, TV and hair dryer. Breakfasts were very good and the courtyard a relaxing place to sit and chat over a drink or bar meal. It seemed to be quite a popular spot.

For the modest price this was excellent value for money, with town centre shopping and eating places just outside the door.

We had originally booked two rooms at another hotel in Warminster, but as we tried to check in they realised they had double booked, and so they arranged for us to stay at the Old Bell. When we went in to the Old Bell we were immediately made to feel very welcome, and were given a free drink to make up for the inconvienience (even though it wasn't their fault!) and after checking in our cases were carried upstairs.
We were given rooms at the top front of the hotel which they felt would be quieter for us away from a party going on in the function room. The bedrooms were clean, large and comfortable, though a little shabby (which I don't mind) and very warm. I decided to go and buy a fan, and although the Poundstretcher shop was just closing the young man helped me find the fan and put it together for me with patience and friendliness.
We later went for a drink at the Organ Inn further down the street where the lady made me a very nice Pimms.
Breakfast the next morning was good- the usual cereals, full English etc. served in the bar area.
There are some nice shops just along the street near the hotel, and supermarkets within a 5 minute walk each way.
Although we were just passing though Warminster for one night, I found it to be the friendliest town I've ever been to!

Room Tip: My mother said she found it a bit noisy at the front when people were coming out of the pubs, and th...

Stayed at the Hotel Saturday and Sunday night at spring bank holiday weekend. We chose the hotel because we wanted to visit longleat also other hotels in the area were either not available or were very expensive.
We knew what we were getting when we booked and that it wasn't going to be the most plush of places at those prices. However it was great value for money and we got what we payed for. Yes it is a tired looking hotel and maybe could do with a lick of paint here and there but it does what it say on the review including having a late bar and noisy customers ...... This didn't bother us as we just joined in ....... Well if you can't beat them join them.
Over all we had a great weekend and as long as you haven't got high expectations of this hotel you won't be disappointed.

Just returned from Warminster, we stayed at the Old Bell Inn, i chose it for price and central location. It's hard to be horrible about this place, it is very quaint from the outside, but omg!! when you go in the bar it is dirty and shabby and this continues up to the door that leads to the accomodation. It could do with a clean and a lick of emulsion and gloss and it would look so much better. The staff are lovely and our room was warm and clean. Had a comfy bed and nice toiletries and lovely towels, lots of tea, coffee and biccies. Flat screen tv and hairdryer and plenty of storage. Decor again needed some work but for the price not too bad at all. We had a room overlooking the main road which is noisy and busy if you have the windows open, don't recommend you do that as the noise from the pub and the one opposite is awful, god knows what its like at the weekend, would not stay here then. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful and hot. Didnt eat in the pub as we didn't want to eat in the bar it was hardly the cosiest of places. We ate both nights at the Masons Arms a few minutes away, choice not good there but food ok, not much choice in Warminster unless you want a takeaway or foreign food. This is a good base for Longleat, Stonehenge, Salisbury and Bath. Would stay again if we were in the area.

Room Tip: ask for one overlooking the courtyard
