We stayed at Bishopstrow Hotel on Fri 1st Feb for two nights in Room 21. We booked this last minute to get away, got a great rate, but even better they upgraded us from a classic to a club room. I've never been to a spa hotel before, so the main thing I really like about Bishopstrow is how friendly and unpretentious it was. We didn't leave the whole weekend making full use of all the facilities - outdoor and indoor tennis courts, saunas, swimming pool, jacuzzi, massages, facials and of course the restaurant (which is excellent). Our favourite part was having a glass of wine or a cocktail by the fire in the lounge. We will definitely come back, it was so relaxing!

We booked a last minute, impromptu weekend away to get some stress relief and relaxation. We were upgraded to a club room when we booked directly. Dinner in the conservatory on the all-day menu was lovely. The best thing was having pre-dinner drinks and a game of draughts in the library with an open-fire. Loved the glasses they served drinks in! Had the restaurant a-la-carte menu the next night and the beef was excellent. Service is friendly. Nothing is pretentious about the place but everything is special. Used the indoor and outdoor tennis courts - sprained my ankle but even that didn't ruin the weekend. The spa facilities were lovely and enjoyed a massage and facial. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was nice - not too big (was a club room) so would advise upgrading further if you plan to spend lots of time in the room (but why would you?). Overall, most impressed with how welcome we felt and that staff met every need without being imposing. Would recommend and would definitely stay again.

After our first visit to Bishopstrow for our anniversary in June 2012 we chose to visit again for an early Valentines persent on 30/01/13. We again experienced a great service, a friendly welcome and managed to relax. We both enjoyed our massages at the Spa and enjoyed using the steam and sauna rooms. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff could not have given us a better service. The highlight of the stay for us was the 3 course dinner, absolutely stunning! They have changed the menu since we last visited it really is fine dinning. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: We recently stayed in room 5 on 1st floor comfortable and there is a descrete back stairscase to the...

We stayed at the Bishopstrow House on 28/2/13 in room 3. We had chosen the spa package as we felt we deserved some pampering and we were not disappointed!

On arrival were warmly greeted and shown to a wonderful spacious room and was immediately impressed with the luxurious and elegantly decorated room totally in keeping with the Georgian house.

There is plenty of storage and everything was clean and nicely arranged. Even on a wet and windy January afternoon it was warm and draft free with a fantastic view. The bed was comfy with exceptionally lovely quality sheets and pillows. We was especially impressed with the bathroom, a huge powerful shower and beautiful free standing roll top bath - one of the deepest I have ever seen!

We spent a couple of very relaxing hours at the wonderful Romanesque spa before our massage. Our spa package included an evening meal and again we were impressed with the delicious food and choice on the menu.

We spent the rest of the evening on comfortable sofa in front of a roaring fire in a warm and welcoming lounge before retiring to the comfy bed for a very good night’s sleep. Every single member of staff we encountered on our all too brief stay was friendly, polite and obliging in surroundings second to none.

Our check out was friendly and fuss free. Well done Bishopstrow- we will certainly be back in the summer!

Room Tip: I dont think you will be disappointed with any room at the Bishopstrow

We are just back from a weekend at Bishopstrow House & we are already thinking about going back! We had the most perfect weekend! We stayed in a Deluxe room, which was so spacious - had a separate living area, private courtyard, high ceilings, 2 tvs, massive shower, bathrobes and slippers & an huge comfy bed!
We had dinner in the Mulberry restaurant on the first evening, and it was exceptional. The breakfast was also really good. We decided to make the most of our lovely room and had room service on the 2nd evening. The menu was really nice and very reasonably priced and we received our food and drinks from a very friendly waiter within 30 minutes!
What stood out to us overall was the amazing, friendly service we received from every member of staff that we encountered over the weekend. Also, the main part of the hotel is so beautiful and we really liked the relaxed atmosphere in the Library room, which had a fire burning all day! My only slight disappointment was that the leisure facilities are on the small size but I believe improvements are scheduled for later this year.
In a summary.... I cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: We are glad that we paid a little extra from a deluxe room, so spacious and comfortable!

A beautiful old English country house in a peaceful setting, with a welcoming, attentive and friendly staff. The latter and some good food (I'd recommend staying away from the a la carte menu) helped to make a four-night stay in January for work most enjoyable.

The Spa is a major part of the hotel, and colleagues seemed to enjoy it - perhaps next time?

The good points were however offset by cheap fixtures and fittings (bathroom tap broken, shower arm not long enough to enable one to stand underneath the shower head without hitting the taps, a plastic bath, very cheap chandeliers upstairs) as well as a frightening combination of large patterned wallpaper, carpet and curtains in my room. The decor looked as though they were trying a little too hard to provide an atmosphere to match Babington House but on a budget.

My only other complaint would be that sleep didn't come easily as the bed was made up of two very soft mattresses pushed together, neither of which offered any support (you would slide off if you got too close to the edge), but provided an uncomfortable ridge in the middle of the bed where they met.

Overall though I would certainly recommend this hotel if one were in the area.

Room Tip: Colleagues raved about the Deluxe rooms close to the spa and the suites in the stable courtyard, alt...

I went here on a deal for 2 nights in October. The house still has a house feel and the open fires, slightly worn furniture and lack of open plan hotel reception area all add to this.

They have huge wooden key tags!

The pool and spa were lovely, the food amazing and the staff attentive while not intruding. However, the wine and drinks are very expensive and their inviting was a little erratic although it was altered as soon as it was pointed out.

My husband did manage to leave his wallet there and they left it in the safe for a week, it was only my call that made them look and then they said it would be registered post, it arrived first class.
