Mum used to work here, at the pub called “the spread eagle”. Been here twice, view was great both times. Takes 2+ hours to walk through this rural heaven. Service was practically non-existent, though.
Spent a beautiful snowy day at stourhead yesterday. We were amazed to arrive and see everything still white, it had practically disappeared from where we live, only about 30 miles away.
The weather was lovely, sunny, with no wind, and everywhere, children were running around in the snow, even building snowmen.
The walk around the lake is always pleasant, but with the lake frozen, it was like a winter wonderland, so pleased we made the effort to go
This is such a tranquil place. I have spent many a morning here taking my camera and walking the whole area. Autumn is best for the changing colours but the peace and beauty is just there to enjoy. You can get good food in the restaurant on site too.
We have just joined national trust and went to stourhead with our daughter and baby grandson. The house is closed so we will have to go back but we did the behind closed doors tour which was very interesting. We walked around the absolutely stunning gardens. We did have a pushchair and there are alternative routes. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go a few more times this year
Whilst on a staycation in this part of the world, we visited the delightful Stourhead House and Garden. It’s vast walking routes and beautiful stately home was a really treat to explore. The visitor guides were very knowledgeable and brought the history to life.
Remember to take your camera, there’s plenty of good picture opportunities.
Large car parks easy walking ,plenty to eat and drink ,nice shops ,a great day for walking .All very clean good facilities for all ages
