Initially went to see the lions in the drive through bit, but didn't see them

With the kids crying in the back, we decided to have a picnic instead.
Within a few moments of getting a nice spot, I barely had time to take the lid off my Thermos flask when these 2 jobsworths turned up in a land-rover, and ORDERED us back into the car. They couldn't even be bothered to tell us personally, they just wound down their window and used a megaphone.

Won't be returning there!

We booked for the summer VIP safari tour. In one word - amazing! We had a 2pm tour and met the ranger who took us in a 4x4 around the safari telling us about the animals as we went.. We drove up close to all of the animals, it was truly amazing! We were even able to go into the lion enclosures where we saw lionesses, speechless, although this may not happen on all VIP trips we were told. Longleat was everything I thought it would be and more! We held a tarantula and snake, went on the jungle cruise and fed sealions and saw nico the gorilla! Definately worth a trip!!!!

We had a lovely day at Longleat. Having watched hours of Animal Park with my daughter we felt at home as soon as we got there. I had booked a VIP tour of the Safari Park which was expensive but it was fabulous! Mike, our guide, has been at Longleat 'since forever' and was able to tell us so much about the animals and take us 'off road' for a closer look at some. He really made our day! We even had the pleasure of seeing Anne the rescued circus elephant in her new home. I'm sure she was smiling! The tour lasted all morning and there is so much to do and see at Longleat its difficult to squeeze it all in! We looked round the house which was stunning but younger families would probably prefer to spend the time in the adventure playground areas which looked fantastic. Jungle Kingdom, Animal Adventure, Deer Valley, Jungle Cruise, the parrot show......... its all great. Food is very expensive so take a picnic if the weather's good but the big souvenir shop is reasonably priced so kids can buy a toy with their pocket money. Be prepared to wait while they decide which lion cub/giraffe/zebra toy they want! Longleat in April is fantastic - I'm sure its great in high season too - just a lot busier with lots of queues. All in all we had a really good day.

Have been before, with two young children and two grandparents and had enjoyable days. But todays visit was ruined by a new ticketing ploy/policy that prevents you from paying for attractions selectively - its all or nothing..and the all inclusive prices are more than double what we would have spent for the same visit last year. It just feels like a ripoff.

The current pricing is not clearly explained, giving you the option of upset and confused children, or doubling your entrance fees. We had a quick picnic and voted with our feet.

We will not be visiting again, if the current pricing/ticketing options remain.

My family and I visited longleat today (19/2/11) . We bought tickets for two adults and three children. It cost £108 . Two of my children are under five,  but were still charged £18.50 each for entry !!  We travelled from london and got there about 11.30 . the place looked like a building site and my daughter tripped over uneven tarmac right in the heart of the central plaza.
We came to longleat 2 years ago and it was lovely, today was anything but. We ate at a restaurant called wessex, had just basic food and drinks, and paid £62 .The staff there looked like they could not care less and the food was not of excellent quality, more of a macdonalds type restuarant.
Half the 'attractions' on the ticket were not open or in some cases even built . The safari was excellent and the maze was fun as always, but everything cost a fortune and what you get is not a lot. Very disappointing . The children were bored by 3pm and wanted to go. So all in all, with fuel , gift shops, lunch and entry we spent over £250 for 4 hours in the so called best safari experiance in britain.
Extremely Disappointing.
