“Simply the Best”

Absolutely wonderful family attraction. We stayed at the Caravan Club Site from where we could walk just a couple of hundred yards into the centre of the park. There is so very much to do, all well kept and beautifully run by dedicated well informed staff.
The adventure playground is truly an adventure, that alone is worth every penny of the entrance fee, I have never seen so many children enjoying every minute in this exciting and amazingly planned wonderland.
There are plenty of food outlets, including the beautiful original Orangery with it grand view over the formal garden, the cellar cafeterier and coffee bar, to the outdoor food courts serving burgers, chicken, and sandwiches, and a Pizza Restaurant all are reasonably priced and wonderfully presented.

I cannot think of another attraction that is so beautifully kept and well run. A trip around the House itself is fantastic and the Safari Park is just amazing - being so close to such wild animals in such a natural and huge environment is spectacular.
Although to be fair, the one thing I would think seriously about is the monkey enclosure - if you value your car, it's exciting and the children loved it, but we were lucky to come out with our car intact, - some people weren't as lucky.

For those using the Caravan Club Site, (that is open to non-members too), the site is brilliant and as everything else - so wonderfully managed. A friendly and beautiful place to spend a fantastic family break. This is our third time here, and if we lived nearer we would certainly buy the Annual Pass,.

A ride on one of the riverboats around the lake is just lovely, and the train that runs all around is great for young and old. Longleat embraces the old and the new, the History and the present, and is well loved by young and old alike it is head and shoulders above other family attractions.

“More of a family place, not for couples”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2012

I've always loved Longleat. I last visited in July last year, so it was very hot and the animals were active.

The safari was interesting, a lioness came up to the car so we got a good look at her. Feeding the deer is a great experience, just remember if you have a child holding the cup the force of the deer may result in pellets all over your car. (See images - We have a great one of a possessed looking deer)

The monkeys are a drivers nightmare, luckily we were visiting with friends and didn't need to worry. You see aerials, pieces of rubber and the odd licence plate scattered around the road, so don't choose to visit in your BMW.

I personally couldn't stand the hedge maze. It was a hot summers day, the hedge was overgrown, and it feels even longer in the heat. There were bugs everywhere and I just got frustrated.

The bat cave was great, though It's tough for a woman to keep silent when one flies at your face and you end up squealing.

The best part was probably the train ride we went on at the end. It had got cooler and it was a nice peaceful ride.

“Thought it Would have been a lot better”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2012

Very expensive for what it is, paid £29.50 each didnt feel there was any value for money. If you have kids you may get a longer day than our 5 hours.

Felt at every turn they were trying to sell animal food for a £1 and this became annoying.

Safari park: and animals were quiet poor, having visted other safari parks in the uk Longleat is some way behind them. The range of anilmals is basic and many of the enclosures look boring and outdated.

Adventure park: was quiet small and more set up for small children and could be done in a couple of hours.

House: Staff were very rude inside the house and didnt let you look at things for long periods, House is nothing special at all, felt like a Poor mans National Trust property.

Loads to do apart from the obvious safari. Good value entry ticket but beware the extras you need to pay for to fully enjoy the activities (e.g. £3 for 2 lettuce leaves to feed to the giraffes!) The animal feeding options are a must, as are the butterfly house, the bat cave, the jungle cruise and the adventure playground.

“brilliant day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2012

when we arrived we thought it was a bit too over priced, but once inside we realized why it was that price, fantastic place, the safari, was a proper safari, you actually get to see and even feed/touch the animals in some parts, the postman pat land is good fun too a full size village you can actually walk around, it felt like you was in the cartoon!!, and a bat centre, completely dark, and scary with lots of bats above your head, oh and a bird and butterfly centre too, also you had the mansion and gardens, which we saved for a picnic the next day, as you couldnt fit it all in, in one day, the pass allows this, as you get it stamped at every attraction, so, those you haven't visited, you can return at a later date
