Just returned from a fantastic weekend where we were all (including our labradoodle) treated like old friends ...
Great quiet location by the river paired with friendly staff and fantastic food ....

We stayed two nights in a very clean but cosy room which could do with an update but this did not detract from our overall fabulous stay - we will be back!!

Charlie (our dog) said thanks for the extra sausages at breakfast :-)

Stunning location on the river, so peaceful. Went with friends and our 2 boxer dogs and we were all made to feel welcome. Excellent breakfast, evening meal offers good choice. Rooms fairly small and could do with a bit more updating. Would definitely return.

Swung off the A36 just outside of Salisbury when we saw sign post for this pub. Well worth it! Lovely pub with garden on river and really lovely, smiley and helpful waitresses. Nothing too much trouble. It was a Sunday lunch period and we just wanted coffee and sandwiches. Please be aware that we only had sandwiches but food going past looked fab. They don't normally do sandwiches on a Sunday but these were knocked up for us. Very good. Pub also does B & B and we were sorely tempted to stop over (we were returning to Portsmouth from a weekend in Devizes) but boringly decided to push on. Next time!!

Went there yesterday and had the best meal ever. It was literally just the only time I've eaten everything on the plate. We were down by the river and the ambiance was wonderful. We had the duck. My partner's was rare and mine was medium well done - perfect in both cases, The young staff were wonderful. Maybe they were well trained but they weren't sychophantic, just individual and lovely.

Was so impressed we went again today for Sunday lunch.

A hidden gem!

I last came here many years ago and recently visited just for drinks and was very impressed with the menu so with another couple decided to give to go on a Saturday evening.
First of all the menu was very good and plenty of choice , the wine list again was more interesting then expected and the selection of spirits were way above average.
The staff were all very attentive and pleasant and could not do enough for us, we spent some time talking to the new owner and we were made to feel welcome by everyone.
The food was beautiful, well presented, tasty and larger portions then expected, we had a debate about chunky chips v fries and the waiter said that if we didn't like the chunky chips then we wouldn't have to pay for them, this was great customer service ( chips were excellent, so we paid !) we were quite late leaving bit didn't feel rushed out by the staff.
At £190 for four people with 3 courses, wine , spirits and coffee I have no complaints and overall I can't fault the evening and will be going back. Worth seeking out.
