I was travelling around with my wife showing her where i lived as a child. Booked this hotel because it came in under Warminster where we were going. it was about 20 away. Havng said that it was a very Nice hotel, Nice clean room, great breakfast and friendly staff. If you do not mind the drive, great place to stay.
We stayed at the Walnut Tree Inn for one night in May 2013 as we were visiting Longleat. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a meal in the inn on the evening of our visit and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The breakfast was lovely. Our room was clean and comfortable with a spacious bathroom which had a bath and separate shower. The inn is in the village of Mere which has a reasonable amount of shops and a couple of other nice pubs. A very enjoyable visit.
Stayed bed and breakfast here recently. Excellent room at the front, not at all noisy as we had feared. Very clean and great bathroom. Our evening meal was good pub food and the staff very efficient and friendly. Breakfast great. I would recommend this inn for eating and staying.
We stayed here for one night after visiting Longleat and were very impressed with this inn. The staff were very friendly, the food was great and the whole pub is lovely. The room (oak room) was very spacious, clean and homely. Lovely decoration and the bathroom and shower was pristine. Bed was extremely comfortable- a great nights sleep! Cooked breakfast in the morning was delicious and the whole stay felt relaxed and not at all rushed.
Booked to stay just 1 night - enjoyed the place so much we decided to stay an additional night in the Oak room.....it was great! Really spacious with a very comfy bed and a fabulous bathroom.
The food was excellent and the staff couldn't be more helpful, even though they were rushed off their feet (always a good sign I think - you can tell how good a place is by how busy it is).
Special mention for Sam, who must work some incredible hours...she was there ALL the time - we don't know how she did it.
We have stayed in the area a few times and this is certainly the best place we've stayed in......if you're looking for a great place, book here! We will be back.
We booked 2 nights here to visit Longleat Safari park and were impressed. We arrived late Friday night at 10.30pm which wasn't a problem. We were escorted straight up to our room and had a lovely sleep. The room (walnut) was huge and very well decorated and furnished. I liked how they left a tub of cookies and bottled water for guests at no extra cost. Breakfast was included and it was lush-tea, coffee, endless fruit juice, cereals, toast and yogurt not to mention your choice of cooked breakfasts. Yum! The couple who run the Inn are very accomodating and friendly. When my partner left his lighter upstairs they were able to lend him one, they even booked us a dinner table without us asking. We enjoyed the evening by relaxing into the comfy chairs with a bottle of wine followed by a lovely steak meal. We will visit again!
