We booked a family room here from 27-29 August 2014 and I must admit that having read some of the earlier reviews I was a bit apprehensive. However, for £33 per room per night, it's pretty good value for money.
The exterior of the building looks dated and yes there is a fair amount of litter in the car-park, most of which seems to bear the 'Burger King' logo, and these first impressions tend to lower expectations of what's to come, but the welcome at reception is pleasant and efficient.
Our room - 128 - was on the ground floor at the end of the building. It had pretty much everything we wanted or expected from a Travelodge. The double bed was very comfortable, the room wasn't over-hot, everything seemed clean enough (yes there were one or two areas which weren't operating-theatre clean, but nothing horrendous). I have to say, though, that the put-you-up bed provided for our daughter was not only rock-hard but very noisy and creaked every time she turned over at night. Something for Travelodge to consider updating perhaps...
Unfortunately our room turned out to be right next to the overnight lorry park at the service area. The first night this wasn't a problem, but the second night a refrigerated HGV was parked pretty much as close as possible to the Travelodge with the unit running all night and as a result not much sleep was had by any of us, despite the window being closed. Not Travelodge's problem, I know, but something which could affect a good night's sleep. The problem is that due to the layout of the building, the rooms at this Travelodge overlook either the main car-park, the overnight lorry-park or the petrol station, so noise is probably unavoidable.
Guests staying at Travelodge get 10% off their bill at the Little Chef next door. Unfortunately - I have written a separate review - the Little Chef is dire. You'd probably be better off having the in-house Travelodge Breakfast and eating out elsewhere but if you do risk the Little Chef, pick up one of their fold-out menus on the way in (next to the till) - it's got a 25% off voucher in it.
Niggles aside, though, this was very good value for money.

Room Tip: Probably pot-luck, I'm sorry to say - you'll either get noise from the petrol station, noise...

We booked to stay here for 2 nights with our son. We have stayed in many travelodges over the years and never really had a problem. You do get what you pay for but always have had a clean room and hot water. Not on this occasion! On arrival receptionist very helpful. Room on first impression was OK. Look further and it was not. Looked quite worn and not upgraded as the signs in reception lead you to believe. Yes the curtains and bed linen were new but nothing else had been updated including old door lock. Carpets appeared clean but looked around the edges and under cupboard and it was dirty. Bathroom floor was grubby round edges and bath had a horrible mat type thing stuck to the bottom! When using bathroom discovered the hot water was lukewarm. Didn't worry too much until morning and we discovered that there was no hot water. We all had cold showers. Mentioned to reception who informed us an engineer was called. Went back in evening and still no hot water. We felt this was unacceptable but felt it was out of the control of the staff. The hot water came back around 9pm over 24 hours after we arrived! I can honestly say we will not be staying here again.

I have to say I was dubious having read some of the other reviews but then I have to say you don't expect 5 star luxury for such a low cost hotel do you??
We booked two rooms as we were visiting Longleat.
When we arrived the receptionist was very friendly a polite and even managed to get two rooms close to each other without any problems, just a small delay whilst one was finished being cleaned - so we grabbed a cuppa in the Burger King attached.
The rooms were absolutely fine! Could probably do with a bit of work in the bathrooms were the grout and sealant around the bath/shower has started to perish but otherwise clean and tidy! Beds were clean and comfy and plenty of pillows!
Location for Longleat was perfect....literally minutes up the road and only a few minutes drive into Warminster where we grabbed a bite to eat.
Overall I was really pleased, Staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite, the facilities were spot on and the location ideal.
If you are looking for a cheap stop gap whilst enjoying longleat I'd say this is your place.

Room Tip: I would avoid overlooking the services as it can be a little noisy when people coming to and from th...

My view of all Travelodges has always been the same - avoid at all costs. However on this occasion we were meeting friends for a day trip at Longleat and there really wasn't much other option.

Check in was simple and efficient, and the young lady on reception was very friendly. On opening the door into the room, somewhat warily I was pleasantly surprised; a large room with one large double and two reasonably sized single beds (family of four).
So - a closer inspection was necessary, results: very clean sheets, very clean carpet, very clean duvet. So far so good - and then the bathroom. Hmmmm.... not so good. Cleanish toilet and grubby sink - with a matching a grubby bath. The tiles and the surround at the top of the batch sported the usual black fungal fudge; and a bath mat that looked like it had never been removed since the day it was stuck on, harbouring goodness knows what human remains underneath it. The bathroom floor was actually clean, this was achieved by by mopping all the dirt and hair into the corners and leaving it to dry.
All in all, for thirty quid you can't really complain too much - so like good english people we didn't.

As for the attached Little Chef restaurant, well, the food was surprisingly good and again the staff were friendly. The cleanliness wasn't so good - dried food on tables, and enough food on the floor to feed a medium sized dog a hearty supper.

Would we go back and stay again - I doubt it. Did we survive - yes. Was it worth thirty quid - yes..

Room Tip: 'throw a six to start' !!

The bathroom was disappointing. There was black mildew around seal on bath. Taps needed dis-scaling as did the shower head. Bed was comfortable. The room was too stuffy, a bit uncomfortable to sleep. Was near to Longleat.

We used this hotel as our base whilst visiting Longleat and Wokey Hole. It was easy to find but sadly our experiences here were not good.
It shares its site with a Little Chef & Burger King which in our view does it no favours at all. The exterior of the site is overgrown, unkept, dirty and heaving with litter. You can't help but notice this and the smell of hot cooking fat as you enter the hotel.
Our room itself was a good size and did accommodate us as a family of 4. Sadly though the room was also run down and in need of a good deep clean. We did have problems with beds not being made, missing sheets and the television reception was also more fuzz than picture.
All in all, the least said about this place the better.

This travelodge caters mainly for families, possibly visiting Longleat. Therefore if your looking for a quiet stay this is not for you.

The hotel rooms are of a Travelodge standard, but this peticular one was very poorly maintained externally.

For example;- The car park and hotel entrance had an exceptional amount of litter and didn't give a pleasant feeling on arrival. Bins were provided, but were overflowing and weren't emptied in the two days we were there.

This does not change my mind about staying at Travelodge as most have been excellent. I just think a bit more reserch is needed to fit your personal requirements.
