“Excellent food every time.”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

Since moving to the village a year ago we have eaten here on at least 11 occasions and have never been disappointed. Whether there are 2 or 10 of us the service is always friendly and the food excellent. Unusually there are no menus so you need to order food from the blackboards at the bar which can cause congestion if there are alot of you. Choices range from "comfort food"- sausage and mash, burgers etc at around £10 to steak, fish and duck at £21. Both are cooked to perfection and for me personally the fish dishes are first choice - coconut crusted haddock is sublime and seabass with chorizo another favourite. The pub is small so it is wise to book ahead even in the week. My only request would be abit more variety on the menu (seasonal changes?) for us regulars!

“Consistently good”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

Although very small the food at the Woolpack continues to be excellent. The service is also good which makes it a very pleasant place to eat

“Great Local Eatery”
Reviewed 17 March 2013 via mobile

Couldn't eat where I wanted to but heard the Woolpack had re-opened and popped in for lunch. Nice premises and friendly, chatty staff.

We opted for olives and goat cheese to start, well presented and both choices were very tasty. Cheesy pudding and the burger for mains, once again, both excellent and very tasty.

Well done, keep up the good work.

“Hopeless!!”
Reviewed 25 January 2013

Attended for a pre-booked meal recently for a breakfast gathering of 22 diners.
Have used same place for many years for same gatherings and is usually great with a very friendly set of staff who are cheery and efficient.

BUT OMG!!!!

One member of staff fronting (other than chef in kitchen).
Member of staff was unwelcoming, grumpy and looked thoroughly miserable.
Having squeezed a thimbleful of coffee from a cafetiere it seemed fairly reasonable (I thought) to ask for "a drop more please" - no chance!! Non busy lady member of staff at this point simply stood at bar/till twiddling thumbs seemingly waiting to be paid. Her explanation for being unable to serve coffee was that the chef had now gone upstairs! A pal had already asked ten minutes earlier for a top up of coffee - but no joy.
The quality and quantity of the food and drink and level of customer service has plummeted off the scale.
UNBELIEVABLE!!! ATROCIOUS!!! Don't do breakfast here! Especially as prices have risen by an eye watering 23%!!!!!!!!!

Tim has a great menu on the go here. So good we used them for our wedding last summer. Fantastic. The chocolate brownie is 10/10.
