“Great Experience”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

This was my first holiday at Center Parcs although my other family members have been before and recommended it. Now I know why. The lodge was lovely and all the facilities of the park were great. Yes, Longleat is very hilly but we didn't have problems with that - it could be a problem if you hadn't known that in advance. We hired bikes and sometimes took the land-train around the park. I personally was very impressed with all the facilities and how the staff manage them. I definitely want to go back. I feel sorry that some reviewers have had a bad experience as ours was so good. I am told the other parks are flatter - Longleat is the hilliest one, so possibly not so good if you have mobility problems.

Room Tip: As this was not a hotel I can't fill in the rest of the questions.

Just back from our second trip to Longleat and thought share some findings this time with others.

The Good

Still great staff, all we had dealings with were happy, friendly and willing to help. We all did the high wire and some needing coaxing (ok me!!) but we had such a laugh doing it the fear ebbed away…A bit…

Still lots to do, we go with another family so the kids play and we sit in the sun and sip a glass or two, pool is fine, looking a bit tired but is old now and they do seem to be doing some work to it

Lots to do but at a price, we booked one big activity every other day and spent the gap days swimming and cycling. Bowling was always a hoot, did that twice.

Supermarket is good if a little pricey but the bread is nice enough, we took a lot from home and used outside for a couple of top up shops (mainly wine!!) during the week

The not so good

Many more cars left dumped outside villa’s despite notes on them. Why do people not respect others and move their cars once unloaded, its downright rude to those who can be bothered to apply this simple rule. Its traffic free after all and I don’t really want to look out over the woods to some clapped out old banger!!

Villas getting tired. We last year had a 2 bed executive but this year we had to have a 3 bed standard and we noticed the difference, it was clean but tatty. Not too badly equipped but looking its age

BBQ from the shop are useless, they are sold on the premise of safety, I doubt that, a fire is a fire but unless you are feeding 1 person with 1 sausage that’s pre-cooked they are very feeble.

Noticed this year soooo many more without bikes, last year it seemed very sports based and bike savvy. This year noticeably not. Not an issue but why do those on foot insist on either walking the wrong way or form a Tsunami line across the whole cycle path…Then tut when the kids ring their bells to get past them.

Summary

Go again?? Heck yes but may try one of the other sites for a change. If you are looking for a good, perhaps not cheap but good, family fun week then CP should fit the bill nicely.

This was our 5th stay at CP Longleat and after this trip I can definitely say it will be our last. We stayed in a 2 bed pine lodge and as soon as we arrived we noticed a very strong damp/musty smell in one of the bedrooms. Then as we went to put one of our sons to bed we noticed the sheets were filthy (covered in small black hairs). As it was late we went to change beds and put him in the other single bed - exactly the same problem. We ended up having to complain to housekeeping who then came to change the beds about an hour later. Because of this our children went to bed very late and didn't sleep well due to the smell. We mentioned the smell to housekeeping the next day who made a vague attempt to cover it up but it was back, as strong as ever, that evening. At a guess i'd say maybe the room had flooded earlier in the year and was still damp and mouldy. We all have returned from our trip with nasty coughs and wheezes, I would say down to the conditions of the room. On a positive note all of the staff we came in to contact with were lovely, it's such a shame that standards have slipped and are letting down their efforts.
This is not the standard of accommodation I would expect from the amount of money we spent. It's such a shame.

Hi

Thanks for reviewing your recent stay at Longleat Forest.

I’m genuinely sorry to read of the issues that you have experienced in your accommodation and I understand your disappointment.

I would be very grateful if you could email us through the ‘Need Help’ section on our website with your booking number so I can pass these details onto the Village team.

It is disappointing to hear that you will not be visiting us again in the future and do hope that at some time you may reconsider.

Kind regards

Just had a great weekend with family at longleat. We stayed in a large lodge which was very well equipped. Having a sauna, steam room and hot tub was an added bonus for when the kids were in bed. There was plenty to do but every activity was expensive even the face painting was £5 for a hastily done paint! There were plenty of places to eat, all good quality but too expensive to eat out every night . My only moan was the amounts of bicycles every where and no restrictions on the numbers of people going around the rapids in the pool. Many of the kids on bikes paid no heed to younger children or older people on the paths and it was irritating to have bikes constantly behind and in front of you when pushing a buggy. It would be better to have designated areas for bikes with clear bike lanes away from predestrians. I am sure there are accidents between bikers and walkers and in the pool due to numbers. The place was beautifully clean, friendly helpful staff . I would go again but would have to restrict the amount of activities due to cost.

Room Tip: All appeared well placed. Quite long walks between venues for the less able so consult the map befo...

Spent a weekend break in villa 645, a 3 bed single storey executive villa with physiotherm infrared room.

These villas are very similar to new style Woodland lodges with the addition of an infrared room, wine fridge, Senseo machine and all bedrooms are ensuite with TV oh & wifi. Not sure they're worth the extra tbh.

Anyway, Yes Longleat is hilly - some of the roads are banned to cyclists, this is where some of the problems start. Cyclists are directed to use the footpaths/ cycle paths also used for pedestrians - if everyone stuck to the keep left rule things would run a lot smoother but these pathways get very congested and a one way system would aid things considerably.

Signage at Longleat is confusing too as some signs are for cars some for bikes and some for pedestrians - but other signs are generic and finding your way around can be a challenge .

Other things - villa wasn't spotlessly clean but not as bad as other posters have found - the swimming pool changing room floors do need cleaning more often and there aren't really enough cubicles either.

Drinks prices are expensive as are restaurants prices - just remember that & decide beforehand whether to choose to eat out or not .

My friends and I turned 30 this year so we wanted to do something as a group (5 30 year old women, 4 men from 27-35, a one year old and a 3 month old. We were not disappointed.

It was easy to check in, the staff across the site were very friendly and there was something for everyone.

We did a 3 hour session at the aqua Sana spa and it was well worth the £40 it cost. There were about 20 different rooms offering saunas, steam, foot spa, meditation and waterbeds - so relaxing!

It is quite pricey but well worth it as everything is there and you really feel like you're on holiday in the middle of nowhere.

Also visited last year on a mid-week break. Our 6th visit in all to CPs.
We love it. Is it a cheap holiday? No. Do we feel we get value for money? Yes. The staff are great, the facilities are fantastic, the accomdation was clean and homely.
It's our kinda place.
