“September 2011”
Reviewed 5 October 2011

I thought the hotel was lovely, well positioned and a "quaint" decor, very Laura Ashley in its appearance.
I thought the food was excellent, if a little over priced but the portion size were good.
The bar was a let down, unless drinking wine by the bottle (of which there was a good selection) the bar resembled little more than a kitchen cupboard in the reception with a small but good quality selection.
My room was very well presented and the views were stunning.
Being woken by a local Fox Hunt riding by was "interesting", but when in Rome.....
All in all, a very enjoyable stay with customer service orientated staff for whom nothing is too much trouble.
Peter & Jane really do CARE about their guests so much so that I will make the Widbrook Grange my ONLY hotel choice is staying in the West Country.
Good luck to all who choose to stay.

We stayed for one night with our granddaughter after a trip to Longleat. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and they accommodated our granddaughters altering their menu at dinner. The room was clean and tidy, and quite spacious. As we wanted a family room an additional bed was put in, which was very comfortable. The en-suite was perfect. Breakfast was first rate. We have stayed in a number of hotels over the past year, and this was the only one that had a small bin under the breakfast table for the empty packs of cereals! The grounds are great - we had a walk in the evening before dinner. All in all a very enjoyable stay at an excellent County House Hotel.

Widbrook Grange otel just so. of Bradford-on-Avon is a wonderful property made even more attractive by a first class staff providing exceptional personal service for the guests. No detail is too small; no request is too large to receive immediate cheerful attention. Every staff member from the fine group at reception headed by the owner (Paul) to the dining room servers and skilled chef and his group work seamlessly to provide 5 star service.
Breakfast was always a delight; and although we did note dine in every evening due to other engagements we regreted not haveing more oportunites to enjoy the evening meal.
As we walked the lovely grounds we also discovered that this would make a wonderful venue for small meetings /seminars. They have an excellent meeting room and nice facilities for leasure activities for those multiday meetings that often require a break.
As experienced travelers we are seldom as impressed with a property as we are with the staff, managment, operation and food at Widbrook Grange. We will return.

Room Tip: No evevator; but newer buildings have been added with ground floor rooms. Main house rooms have nic...

For the past decade we have searched the West Country for the perfect place to stay, and at long last, our search is over.
It's quite difficult to put into words just how wonderful a place this is, it has everything we wanted, and then some more, letters on a page can never paint the true picture.
Let's just say that if you want comfort, good food, friendly service and that little bit of pampering then this is the place for you, and without being excessively priced.
We'll be going back at the earliest oppurtunity, I'd strongly recommend you give it a try, you'll not be disappointed.

Room Tip: The four poster beds are beautiful, one of the comfiest nights we've had in years.

We booked this as a journey breaker travelling between Cornwall and Loughborough and didn't do our usual meticulous checking and boy did we fall on our feet! Lovely relaxed place, its not 5* there are no mini bars or doormen but we had a lovely big room (room 3 in the main house). We booked a travel cot for our 11 month old and they had rearranged the room so it fit comfortable and was made up with baby blankets and a coverlet.

The pool was lovely, with arm bands and toys for the baby to use, the gym was small but fine, the changing rooms were a small dissapointment but we just went back to our room and had lovely hot showers with huge fluffy white towels (a bug bear of mine as many hotels only provide tiny things)

We used the baby listening service so we could put the baby to bed and have a lovely grown up evening which we duly did enjoying a lovely meal, great wine and a nice glass of port in the lounge later, all in a relaxed unhurried yet still professional atmosphere. Next morning we went down to breakfast and were told we could sit anywhere we wanted but they had set a table with high chair ready if we wanted to use it - lovely touch! There is also high tea provided for the little ones, we didn't go to this but it looked like a lot of fun was had by all, the facilities for families here are second to none, it really does feel like a proper home from home except with your own pool and chef...

It was wet during our stay so we didn;t see much of the gardens but since we hope to return we'll save that for next time.

Room Tip: The rooms in the main house are lovely and quirky, all rooms will be quiet of traffic nose due to it...

Our very pleasant room was situated behind the main house, overlooking fields. We found breakfast satisfying, and offered with a smile. The restaurant offered a good selection of dishes, which were served well. The hotel is situated just outside Bradford on Avon, and is close enough to Bath for day-trips. All in all, a very welcome and peaceful break from the city.

The positives: Quiet, rural location just outside Bradford-on-Avon with lovely gardens. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The food is good - a French bistro-style menu for dinner with reasonable choice and prices (although I'm not convinced it merits the AA rosette). The hotel has very decent indoor pool and a small gym area.
The negatives: most of the rooms are in 'courtyard' style converted buildings around the main house which means that you have to go outside each time you want to go for a meal (breakfast or dinner) in the hotel or drink in the bar - fine on a nice summer's day, not so much fun when it's wet (as it was when we were there) or cold. Our bedroom, while clean and in reasonable condition, smelled very strongly of damp, which the owners had tried to cover, unsuccessfully, with air freshener. Overall, the building, rooms, decor, while not in bad condition, just look very tired - the hotel looks like it could do with a major overhaul.
I would have given this hotel four ticks but for the fact that the price of the stay makes it poor value for money.
And I won't comment on the philistine who, for whatever reason (I know they're cheaper), put uPVC windows on a Georgian farmhouse!
