Widbrook Grange is a Farmhose style hotel in the counrtyside, just outside Bradford on Avon. The Hotel staff are extremely friendly and polite. Ther is a small, private pool that is used for local swimming lessons during the day. There is no bar but the food in the restaurant is top notch. Bedrooms are confortable and private (no thin walls ). I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel. The hotel is soon to be extended.

Room Tip: If you don't want to eat in the restaurant, be prepared to travel by car to the nearest eating p...

I regularly stay in hotels throughout the SouthWest. The Widbrook offers all the facilities I could need, including a pool to unwind in at the end of the day. A great atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff make it a home away from home, ideal for using as a base to work from, thinking of bringing the wife up for a weekend ;-)

Widbrook Grange was a last minute choice and in general it was well made. The staff in the hotel were very friendly, giving us a tour of the place when we arrived.
The hotel is very well situated for a trip into Bath and the local town of Bradford on Avon is very quaint.
The hotel itself is lovely however I think a little over exaggerated on the internet. The showers in the main building are not very powerful, it took me twice as long to wash my hair as it normally does, and the bed although beautiful, was that old that it made some horrendous creaking sounds. The walls are also very thin so it is possible to hear people moving around out in the hallway.
The swimming pool was a lovely size, but we were not made aware that we would have to share the pool with lots of kids having swimming lessons. Unfortunately that is not my idea of being relaxing. And finally although it advertises a gym facility this is rather basic and quite cramped.
On a very positive note, the food in the restaurant was out of this world. We had a 3 course meal on the first night of out stay and I would certainly eat there again. It was top class, Masterchef quality.

I found Widbrook Grange Hotel a dreadful place to stay. I've stayed at many hotels and some of them have been quite dated or basic. However, they know this and charge and act appropriately. Not here at Widbrook.

It seems to try to be a mid range hotel when it is clearly not. Woodchip on the walls, rusty fittings in the showers, black tiles all very eighties and anything 30 years old breaks after constant use. The hotel needs a major refit. Until then it should be charging much lower rates, so that people don't have even moderate expectations of it. Over a number of nights the hotel seemed to be full (given the number of cars in the car park) but guests don't use the public rooms or restaurant – nor can I blame them. There's little point complaining to the management as they cannot refit the hotel whilst you are there. It seems to have having a new coat of paint in some rooms but it needs major investment and overhaul to make it inviting and good value. There are other hotels in the area charging similar rates but they are much more comfortable and inviting.

Only good point – the heating seemed to be on all night so at least the bedroom was warm (but the bath room was freezing).

Room Tip: Certainly not in the annexes (a friend stay in there) - but if you have a choice then stay at anothe...

Our stay at Widbrook Grange was all we could have hoped for and their food is to die for!! The reception we got from all the staff was as if we were the most important people in the world. We were shown around the grounds and the tour included showing me the heated indoor pool. I was particularly looking forward to it and it was close proximity to the rooms too. On entering our own room, it was as if we had stepped into the living room of a fab, quaint cottage. It was called the Shakespeare room. We stay away most weekends and Kerry says that she felt that this was the best room we had stayed in. I loved the pool and we both felt that the food was exceptional. We have every intention of staying there again and quite soon.

Room Tip: We loved our room which was no 12, the Shakespeare.

We stayed in the Keates room in an annexe to the hotel just before Christmas 2013. The room was less than spectacular - a rather drab uninviting experience. It was clear from the fixtures, fittings and furnishings that no money had been spent here for some time. The bath had an old fashioned wall mounted electric shower which alternated sporadically between hot and cold. Some of the grouting within the wall tiles and the sealant between the bath and the tiles were brown/black.
I did not eat in the restaurant but had breakfast the following morning which was pleasant enough.

Room Tip: Avoid the Annexe unless you want to stay in something resembling an old peoples home.
