“Quirky but Cute.....”
Reviewed 5 June 2009

We stayed one night in the round room with the round bed. Per other reviews, the parking was tough, but we didn't use the car again until we left, so no big deal.

I loved the thick walls and size of the room - the view from the window was spectular - it is such a quaint town...It was spring and the garden was in full bloom. Lovely picture of the stone town with the garden's lilac bushes framing the photo taken from room window. Very quirky decor....we found the windmill in the DK travel book and it sounded so romantic. This was our first stay ever in a privately owned B&B, so I'm not sure we really had any idea what to expect. We had no problem with the 10pm Jacuzzi rule as we were totally exhausted anyway! I remember the bed was wonderfully comfortable and we slept great!

My boyfriend and I were looking for a special/ restful place to stay before embarking on a 10mile canal walk between Bath and Bradford-on-Avon. Bradford Old Windmill provided the perfect setting to ensure a relaxing weekend. We were very quickly greeted by a friendly owner who was keen to assist with the car parking as the drive is quite narrow and she was simply trying to make things easy for both the guests and neighbours alike.
We stayed in the very spacious and quirkly decorated round room with the round bed. It was very cosy indeed, you could have very easily entertained yourself in the room all evening if you were too cold to venture out into the picturesque medievil village! Provided in the room was a vast collection of videos, books and if you felt in the need of a little pampering you could enjoy a hot jacuzzi bath. Some guests feel that the 10pm cut-off for its use is a little extreme, however I understand where the owner is coming from as it is quite noisy.
The breakfast provided is the best breakfast I have ever encountered at any hotel or B&B in all my travels thus far. All dishes were homemade right down to the selection of breakfast cereals and thick wholegrain bread! The ingredients were clearly organic and either homegrown or locally sourced, leaving us well nourished before our adventurous day ahead of us!
I would definitely stay again when in the area.

Interesting building which promised more than it delivered. Friendly welcome from owner but the room, Damsel, was disappointing. The water bed didn't appear to have enough water in it so made for an uncomfortable nights sleep!

The dog bones on the table outside the bedroom door are quite frankly macabre and didn't amuse us despite the owners intentions.

Breakfast was good but we had to listen to 'jungle noises' whilst we ate - courtesy of a CD no doubt.

Bradford on Avon is certainly worth a visit as it's a lovely town.

We stayed at the Bradford Old Windmill on the recommendation of friends and were not disappointed. We stayed in the Fantail room which has a separate lounge and additional sleeping area, suitable for children, in a minstrels gallery above the main bedroom. Our kids (age 7 & 9) loved it.

Breakfast is excellent with the focus on freshly prepared vegetarian options but with the traditional cereals and bacon & eggs available for anyone who prefers that.

The parking is tight and the owners did seem sensitive to the needs of their neighbours, but we did not find this intruded on our enjoyment.

Options for eating out in Bradford On Avon were varied and of good quality. The Pizzeria was a good choice for those with children and within easy walking distance of the B&B, although we would recommend booking ahead.

We stayed for two nights, spending the day at Longleat which is within 20 minutes drive. I probably wouldn't recommend this B&B for a one night stop over as you would hardly get a chance to enjoy the place before moving on.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay and it was one of the highlights of our holiday.

Spent 2 nights in a nice room with its own separate lounge which was comfortable and gave good space. Good bathroom (though no shower). Just on the outskirts of Bradford so very quiet but can walk into town in 10 minutes.

We found the owners polite, helpful and chatty; yes, they do seem to have a lot of "rules" (including one interesting one about nocturnal activities!) but they were fine and none of them prevented us from doing what we wanted to do. Have had far more imposing owners in plenty of other B&Bs!

This B&B is undeniably beautiful but we were expecting space and tranquility. This is not the case. It is at the end of a short, very narrow road shared with the neighbours who overlook the property. It is all very squeezed in and the neigbours were unfriendly and did not smile back at us or acknowledge us at all. We got the distinct impression they were fed up of having guests tramping down their road and that words may have been said with the owners in the past!

As soon as we arrived we were sat down and forced to read the full page laminate with detailed map showing where we had to park (you had to park in the first marked bay, if this was full move to the next one and park against the wall so that the door won't open and crawl out of the passenger side etc). We could not use the jacuzzi after 10pm. We had to ask for a key if we were going to be back from dinner after 10pm. You are not given a room key when you arrive. All the rooms in the B&B are left open...!! It's all a bit strange considering you are paying well over £100 for the night! Not what we expected. It's not a very relaxing environment with so many rules and regulations. If you don't like feeling you're in detention don't stay...if you live by strict regulation you will love it!

We booked to stay at Bradford Old Windmill as a treat for our wedding anniversary. We had a fantastic time. It is the most romantic setting. The owners made us feel very welcome indeed. The only reason for them being specific about where your car is parked is because the drive way is narrow and is shared with a couple of other houses. We stayed in Damsel. The room with the waterbed and whirlpool bath. It was exceptionally clean, very pretty and most comfortable. The breakfast was second to none-a huge amount to choose from and all home-made or organic. Would recommend Bradford Old Windmill to anyone wanting something extra special and different from your usual bed and breakfast.
