We stopped here following a walk through Bradford on Avon. The Hotel is very nicely located and pleasant inside. I have put a 3 out of 5 as they hit the mark on the location and food quality. The real problems were the speed of serving our (and others) food. It took at least 1 hour to order and receive a club sandwich and a vegetarian dish. Also, the waitress (I am not sure if she was the co-owner, but looked like she was in charge) was quite rude to customers when they complained about the wait.

So overall, a nice pub/hotel, work on getting the food quicker and the service better.

Room Tip: Ask how long the wait will be before sitting down

Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed the food and have taken on board your comments on the speed of service, we have how taken on more chefs to cope with our quickly rising popularity and have also reviewed the service, it was our mistake not to realise that the staff member in question does not work well under pressure, this has been solved now.
Thank you again for your feedback and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again-

On arrival, on a cold and dark winter evening, the nice bar area with an open log fire was very inviting. Upon checking in, the gentleman was very welcoming and explained that the old building meant lots of uneven floors; so I was to watch out for sliding cups on surfaces. He also explained the technique to get the shower to work properly and provide hot water. The building is impressive and interesting, dating back to the 15th century in parts, I was informed, and certainly a refreshing change to some of the uninspiring business hotels I've stayed in lately.
My room, room 3, was right up at the top of the building. Unfortunatly this was a bit too far a stretch for the free wifi I was joyfully informed about, giving just a "very weak" signal; effectively useless! The room was okay, but there were areas that needed improvement. The paint needed touching up on the walls, the blinds didn't operate very well and the bathroom was a bit mouldy around the tiles/shower area. The view from the room was pretty much non-existent, too. The room wasn't particularly spacious; it would be a bit tight for two. The highlight of the room was the very comfortable bed; which ensured a good nights sleep, at least.
After dining out, the bar area was nice to return to for some late drinks.
When I went down for breakfast the next morning, none of the lights were on and it appeared they wern't ready for the guests. I searched for a light switch so that my colleague who was up before me didn't have to sit in the dark. I went for a walk around Bradford-on-Avon and found the surroundings to be most pleasant and the hotel ideally situated in the centre. When I returned I ordered my breakfast and had to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive! There were around 12 guests downstairs for breakfast at the same time and one even gave up waiting. The breakfast was okay when it arrived, but the toast had definitely gone cold by this point.

Thank you for taking the time to review us and we apologise for taking so long to respond, while we try to ensure that we do everyhing possible to ensure our guests enjoy their stay, there are ocassions when we miss things and we thank you for highlighting some areas for improvement, they have been tackled and dealt with already, with re-painting being an ongoing programme!
We have had issues with the wifi, always a challenge in an old building, however we have since installer further boosters which understand have improved things.
We have not been able to investigate what happened with the breakfast service, this is certainly not our usual standard, however there was one unfortunate ocassion when our chef called in sick and it took some time to get another employee in to assist, perhaps you were unfortunate enough to have stayed at this time, we are also always looking at ways to improve our breakfasts and wil continue to develop the breakfast experience at the Hotel.
Thank you once again and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the future - let us know and perhaps we can arrange to give you one of our larger superior or deluxe rooms which enjoy not only more space but also better views!

The Swan advertises itself as having fine food and elegant rooms. The bedroom was clean and tidy but the bathroom was what I would not have been surprised to find in a very cheap B + B. Very small shower with black mould growing on all the seals and ceiling of the shower with grubby grout. We only ate breakfast here as the idea of burgers and gammon steaks being fine food was more in line with pub grub to my thinking. Fizzy apple juice and fizzy prunes are also a bit stomach churning. When this was mentioned the food was whisked away and also removed from the help yourself buffet with no apology. Bearing in mind this weekend was double the cost of a Travelodge where I could at least have guaranteed the cleanliness i was very disappointed

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback and help us continually strive to improve our standards and service, while we do try to provide high standards there are ocassions when we miss, the bathroom has had a deep clean and we thank you for pointing this out for us, we should have noticed it and have taken steps to ensure that we are 'on top of this'

In terms of the food, we have tried to develop a fairly eclectic menu to suit the many tastes and expectations of our guests, yes it is correct that we offer homemade burgers and hand cut chips, gammons, sausage and mash, fish and chips and home made pies, but we also offer stilton stuffed chicken, Panko Pesto crusted salmon slow cooked belly of pork with Sping onion mash and a reasonably extensive Thai/Asian menu as well (the owners having lived in Asia for over 15 years).
Further more since your visit we have also launched daily specials, which at the moment include Lemon Sole, Lamb Rump, Spaghetti with Chilli and Crab and more.
We would welcome the opportunity to invite you back again and show you the improvements we have made since your last visit.
thank you once again

As a walker I arrived in this large town expecting a variety of choices for my accommodation for the night. However it was not to be.The.tourist office closed early and absolutely no alternative but
to stay in the Swan !After negotation the manager kindly agreed to reduce the price for BnB from 90£ to 75£...I could stay in a castle in Ireland on a Thursday night for that price!!The room was fine and there was a cheerful and helpful girl called Katy running the show. But what a greedy overpriced charge and the hotel was almost empty! This kind of rip off pricing does nothing to promote the walking tourism in England!!

Thank you for your comments and feedback, we are pleased that you found the rooms comfortable and the staff welcoming and appreciate perhaps that our price was more than you were expecting to pay, there is certainly a wide range of accommodations in Bradford on Avon, even if the less expensive ones might me more off the beaten track, we are, as a 4 star Inn right in the town centre, priced accordingly.

We stayed here for a relaxing weekend and we got just that. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the rooms comfortable and clean. As its a very old building the bedroom floor wasn't level and all the furniture looked wonky, but it added to the character of the place. The bed was so comfortable and I had the best nights sleep I've had for a long time. The staff are very friendly and also very helpful. We would most definately stay here again if in the area. A very very nice weekend was had.

Having some months ago had dinner at the hotel where the service was nothing short of appalling I revisited with friends again, having made a reservation we were greeted by a surly member of staff to say that their would be 30 minute wait, no effort made to sit us down get any drinks and menu when we eventually ordered a further long wait, one member of staff was enthusiastic but unfortunatly not very knowledgable, the red wine served was colder than the white wine, after much messing about we were given a bucket of warm water for the wine. We were charged £7.95 for the smallest salad as a starter, overall very expensive and not the best experience, as we live locally, one restaurant we shall not be returning too.

We are always dissappointed when we hear when guests do not enjoy their experience with us as diners, particularly as most of the time we seem to send our guests away happy. Having said that, busy or not there is no place for giving anything other than a warm welcome to all who visit us, which clearly you feel did not happen in this case.

The temperature of the wine is also not something we are proud of, we have over 45 wines on our list and do try to maintain and serve our wines in the optimum conditions, our staff did try to assist in this matter, but clearly it should not have happened.

We are sorry that you did not feel we were value for money, we do try to remain competitive, however we always take our guests feedback seriously and have reviewed the salad in question following your visit.

We always welcome feedback and constructive critisism and our staff did pass on your feedback about the salad, however overall they thought that you enjoyed your experience with us, clearly they misread the situation and you have given us a few areas for us to focus on

We always appreciate feedback and critisism and thank you for taking the time to help us improve further.

Had dinner in The Swan on Saturday evening, and could not fault the food or the service. We ate in the restaurant, which had a nice relaxed atmosphere, and the service from the waitress was attentive without being over powering - pitched just right. The main courses took a little while to arrive, as you would expect with food freshly cooked to order, it was most enjoyable, with good portions. We decided to have a desert, and the Chocolate Tart was the best I have ever tasted - superb flavour in the chocolate (not too sweet, nor too bitter), with a lovely crisp case. The sticky toffee pudding and chocolate mousse were also praised by my companions.

I will certainly be returning to The Swan again.
