Owner description: Bradford-on-Avon Wharf was once the busiest wharf on the Kennet & Avon Canal. Today, it’s a great place to spot historic canal features.

The bradford on avon wharf contributes in a very positive way to the rustic and old feel of the town. Manning a narrow boat down into the canal locks adds a pleasantly satisfying feel to the holiday as the great gates are opened and the water rushes in- lovely to see this feature still functioning after its fair share of use.

I could not visit here often enough in our two week holiday in the area. It was a school holiday when we arrived and I was delighted with all the comings and goings.

The lock is a place of great interest with volunteers helping to open and close the lock. There are places to eat, toilets and wonderful walks along the canal itself.

This is a great place to take a trip on a narrow boat, on a Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday morning at 11.30 you can take a trip up the canal for just £3.00 for adults and £2.00 for 5 and over children on the Barbara Mclellan Narrow boat. It only lasts for 1 1/4 hours which is perfect for little ones! There is a toilet on board and a cafe and bar for drinks and snacks, you can even buy pellets in a bag to feed the ducks on route . I am a disabled person and there is access onto the boat for wheelchairs as well. Tickets can be bought from the boat on the day from 10.30 am. Its a lovely peaceful trip and afterwards there is a great park nearby to have a picnic and for children to let off steam.
