Surprised by some of the negative comments made by other guests - we found the staff to be absolutely delightful and nothing too much trouble. High quality sandwiches and although we did not have room for cake they looked truly splendid. Other diners clearly enjoyed! Would not hesitate to recommend this tea room and would say it can hold its own against some of the more expensive 5 star hotel establishments in the area. Well done

We had a very nice sandwich lunch here on Saturday; it was busy and clearly popular. The waitresses were polite and helpful and wore attractive "Victorian" aprons (although a few marks on them suggest that they should change them a bit more often). Service was a little bit slow, but it was a peak time. Nice china; pleasant atmosphere. I was glad that we stopped here.

In a stunning early C16 building. Was like stepping into the Victorian era - waitresses in long frocks, aprons & bonnets. Lovely fireplace, lots of nooks & crannies and soft classical music. Tea served in china cup & saucer, with extra jug of hot water. Delicious, home-made cakes. Not cheap, but worth every pound!
