“Beautiful surroundings”

We arrived at he hotel on Saturday 30th March a little early but the staff where totally prepared and checked us in. We had a beautiful family suite well presented and fully equipped. We had our two dogs with us who were also well received. The hotel is quirky great for families and couples alike but most of all dog friendly. Staff can't do enough for the guests especially Leggie (as he is known by staff) he was very attentive and was chatty an asset to the hotel. Looking forward to our next visit :)

The hotel has a nice approach via a long driveway and your met by a lovely old building. The hotel has one of the best bar entertainment areas I've ever seen with pool tables, old football tables, bar billiards so we spent a good few hours playing and sampling the very nice local bitter.

I like the way it all been decorated and there are lots of pictures around the walls but they have gone a bit over the top with Marco Pierre White pictures. The menu wasn't that varied and the quality / taste of the food was OK but definitely not of a standard you would expect from a hotel / restaurant owned by MPW.

We had a nice suite in the treetops building which was roomy and very clean. Customer service and the breakfast was first class. I'd definitely go back again but if they want to keep pushing the MPW connection with any credibility, the evening menu / quality of the food needs to improve.

Went here on our second night of a groupon deal for a meal, the outside of the building is stunning, the lawns are beautifully kept with outside seating.
On entering the building expecting the same I was surprised to see semi nude drawings of Koo Stark on the walls, walking into the bar area was even more surprising not the beautiful interior I was expecting but full of snooker tables, duke box strange things coming down from the ceiling and the seating uncomfortable bar chairs and cheap looking tables.
I was very apprehensive about what the meal was on offer, when taken into the dinning area I was pleased to see the return to normality. The meal was lovely, the service good and the people friendly.
Why, oh why did they spoil a beautiful place with such rubbish as you enter the building I have no idea.

Reading all the reviews I expected to be quite disappointed, and it's easy to be overly nitpicking, but actually this is a very nice hotel set in picturesque grounds with clean comfortable rooms and a good restaurant. Service is just a little disjointed though and feels like you have to ask for everything, like a drink or a menu.

Bar area is quirky, as others have said, with billiard tables and neon signs.

If you forget the Marco Pierre White connection and think this is not a lot more to stay at than Premier Inn, you will be very pleased.

The menu is small but I don't think that's a bad thing if it changes seasonally. My three course menu was £26 and very tasty. The baked camembert type starter came out overcooked with burnt toast. The head chef shouldn't have let it go out like that but still good and these are not fine dining prices. The main of Sea Bream was just right. Dessert unfortunately sounded good but was a too cold pear out of the fridge on ice cream. The other two options of ice cream or sorbet sounded to boring.

Service is good but has to be pulled a little. Free wireless throughout makes it easy to work if you want to but needs some more relaxed seating areas.

Overall a quirky but nice hotel that I would stay at again.

Hubby and I spent two nights in this delightful place. Ambience was soothing and with a wealth of Art everywhere (all original) it kept us busy. We loved the informality, the lovely staff who were busy but always ready to help and the non-fussy approach when serving the delicious three course dinner. Breakfast was yum!! Reminded me of an old quirky pub (Tickel Arms Cambridge)
many years ago, now unfortunately turned Gastro pub. Cheers to you Marco for making an artistic stamp on yours. I hope it stays that way.

We stayed at Rudloe Hall Hotel/Rudloe Arms on a Sunday night offer purchased through "Secret Escapes".
The main building looks very pretty from the outside and the setting is nice - there are lawns and woods and little nooks with outdoor games etc.
The reception area is quite dark and dingy but there are plenty of oddments to keep you amused - lots of quirky "art" on the walls. And a shrine wall to Marco Pierre White.
The receptionist was friendly enough but didn't really cover any basics - check out time, breakfast time etc. We had to ask, which was fine, just a bit odd.

Our room was not in the main house so we didn't get to see the Victorian decor or four poster beds on the website. Fair enough as we were there on a deal.
Our room was in a separate building across the car park. In an "apartment". It was not an apartment. It basically just shared an entrance hall with another room that's all.
The room was comfortable enough and it was obvious that the building had recently been re-carpeted. But otherwise it was pretty tired. Old fashioned cheap wooden furniture, and fuddy duddy old toiletries. The room had free wifi which was a bonus but no iron or ironing board, mini bar or fridge and no safe. There was a tiny little travel hair drier.
On the plus side it was spotlessly clean.
Our room was on the ground floor and had a patio door but it didn't open out onto anything.

As part of our deal we had breakfast, an evening meal and a bottle of champagne in our room included.
The bottle of "champagne" turned out to be a bottle of warm Prosecco in a screw top bottle. I didn't even know it was possible to get in a screw top but you learn something new every day! Very cheap.
I've reviewed the dinner under the Rudloe Arms restaurant entry on trip adviser.

Breakfast wasn't great.
Although I'm sure the meat was well sourced the sausages were very over seasoned and the rashers of bacon had stuck together as a slab - some soft, some burnt, none very tasty. The scrambled eggs were similarly underwhelming.
The breakfast team were clearly rushed off their feet and although they were polite enough they seemed quite harassed and stressy.

If the weather is bad there really isn't much to do at this hotel and it's a short drive away from the nearest village.
On balance I think we got what we paid for. But I wouldn't rush to return and I certainly wouldn't pay full rate based on our experience.
If you happen to need to stay in Corsham it's a serviceable option but as it stands it's not a destination hotel. It has the potential to be a lot better.
