“Fab hotel, lovely grounds”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

Just spent a lovely weekend at this beautiful hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food in Marco Pierre White restaurant was super. The menu isn't vast, but plenty to suit all tastes. Our room, 223, was big, very clean and very comfortable. Only a small TV screen but excellent picture. The grounds of the hotel are vast and very well kept. Dinner on our 2nd evening was at the sister hotel, The Pear Tree, and again the food was great and staff super.

Having enjoyed a pleasant stay here last year while attending a Dog show at Bath we decided to book again. The Hotel has undergone huge changes, all of which seem to be for the better. The staff seem a lot happier and more professional, the grounds are lovely and the room we stayed in, which was in the Tree Tops building, was spotlessly clean and welcoming. We really enjoyed our one night stay and wish it could have been longer! Our dog enjoyed himself too! Will definitely return next year . Thank You to Rudloe Hall

We recently stayed having booked through secret escapes for a 2 day break, We found the room to be clean although a little dark. The food we could not fault and even though we had to eat at the sister restaurant The Pear Tree on the second night the food was fantastic.

Would definitely recommend, and if anyone thinks Marco does not visit the hotel he was there both days!!!

The room could do with information about the hotel,

Outside apearance excellent. Reception was dark. Bar was uninviting. It spoilt the effect of the hotel. Food was excellent. Service from staff was also excellent. Very helpfull. Had a meal at sister pub The Pear Tree. The food and service was also excellent there. Trip was booked through Secret Escapes. Fair money for a fair deal.

A lovely setting for a wedding or family affair. We arrived in glorious sunshine and enjoyed a Pimms on the lawn.

The food is very good, a try and tested menu, nothing extravagant or precious - just well source, well cooked food.

There are photographs of Marco Perrie White everywhere and I mean everywhere! His moody portraits lears down at you from the stairwell at reception. Slightly un-nerving and rather self-indulgent!

The building is superb and the art work unique and unbelievable. You could take a week drinking in the surroundings and feel the ambiance warming your thoughts ........Untill , that is,you reach your room and even then you sense that you should understand the decor and all the parts that dont work in the room, but the feeling soon changes as you hear the staff outside your window swearing and smoking and as you look out from the room, the view from room 4 is overwhelmed by the sight of empty vegatable containers thrown inthe back way. The radiator valve in the room was broken and I asked the staff twice if it could be looked at, but to no avail, which left us with a room with similiar heat to a dry sauna and certainly enough dust to replicate the Sahara.Undaunted we opened the only two windows available, as the rest where painted down.Unfortunately that opperation only enhanced the racket comming from the boiler room directly below.

Look at it this way the whole package was £99 and thats the maximum value you could place on our stay.A real shame though as this place could demand big figures ,but only if the service and expectations reach the heady hieghts of Marc'os Restaurants .....Which are faultless.

Room Tip: Don't chose room 4 at any cost

Just had 2 nights here and 1st impressions, the building is beautiful. Inside needs a full renovation!! It's dusty and very tun down! The bar area is uninviting and not the most pleasant of places to relax. No mirror in bedroom 3 so they organised one for me, then left outside room where you could write your name in the dust!! Irons had bare wires and not interested when pointed out! When to the sister hotel to this one night and that was 1st class. Would not stay here again unless a refurbishment has been done. Food not excellent, not what I expected. The long drive to the hotel was full of potholes, luckily in a 4x4. If marco pierre white's name is on the board I expect it to be 1st class, and I don't think he'd be happy. The hotel inspector would have a field day!
