“Very interesting day out”

The mill is definitely worth visiting.
We had a great day out and if you include Hardwick Hall which is next door, then it is a full day out.
The staff at the mill are great to talk to and explain how it all works. If you go on a Thursday you will witness flour being made. If you can't, then you will still see the mill in action but they won't be grinding the grain. But the detail you are given is good enough to understand the process.
A very interesting trip and I would highly recommend.

Passionate and knowledgeable guides. Unchanged for 150 years and still working as well as ever. Goes to prove not everything needs changing.

We have stopped off here a few times, when going to Hardwick Hall, and have always been very impressed.

The staff are friendly and knowledgable. Whilst the mill is quite small there is lots to see and the kids can get hands on, bringing sacks through the trap door in the upper floor.

Because of the size, it is questionable whether it is worth the full admission fee, and I think it would be better offered as an extra to Hardwick Hall admission, but for National Trust members it is well worth visiting.

Just got back from another great day out - starting with Stainsby Mill. Really worth the visit. Very informative and helpful staff gave a good account of the history of the mill and of threshing and milling flour. Have been to several mills in the past but never one like this. Bought some flour and raspberry and lime curds so should have a great treat to remember this trip when I make the bread. Give it a go - you'll really enjoy the visit - it's fascinating.
