We stayed at the Sandpiper Hotel for two nights over the recent Bank Holiday Weekend - the Food, our Room's comfortability and Cleanliness, was literally second to none.

The Staff are friendly and extremely helpful - and we really enjoyed our stay.

Location we found very convenient for whatever we needed to visit / do in the area.

We have since booked again for three nights over the next Bank Holiday Weekend.
Says it all really, because we do expect things to be as we feel they should be - and they were !

We have stayed at this hotel annually for several years for our Association dinner (Smooth Fox Terrier Association). The accommodation and food is always excellent. This year however was marred by the rudeness of the night barman who made it very clear that he had no intention of serving any residents after 11pm. He kept opening the main door so that we were all freezing and told us "to keep the noise down" (we were only talking). If that was customer service, it was dreadful

Hello Gardeous3
Thank you for your review following the Smooth Fox Terrier Association Annual Dinner. First of all, thank you for the positive points you mention - the excellent accommodation and food. Your Association has been using us for several years now and we are always pleased to welcome your members.
We are obviously disappointed with your comments about the service in the bar as we strive to keep all our guests happy. Your review indicates that our night barman had no intention of serving residents after 11 p.m. Our night porter comes on duty at 11 p.m. and is quite happy to serve residents after this time providing it doesn't cause a problem for any of our other residents. Unfortunately the incident you refer to happened at 1 o'clock in the morning and not 11 p.m. as indicated. We received two separate adverse comments about the noise, one from a member of your own party. On both occasions the night porter politely asked if you could be a little quieter. When it became obvious that this wasn't going to happen, he took the decision to close the bar. As responsible hoteliers we have to consider all our residents and I hope this response serves to show that we acted appropriately. I am pleased to say that your members enjoyed their stay with us, as your organiser's review of 21st April confirms. We are delighted that the Smooth Fox Terrier Association has booked again for 2015 and hope we will have the opportunity of welcoming you again

Very impressed with the Sandpiper Hotel. As David S and Mac said in their reviews they took our group in at short notice. Kenny and his staff were helpful and friendly, they really went the extra mile! The rooms were clean, comfortable and the food was excellent.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Doc and Christine G

Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, very helpful, clean rooms, spacious, food excellent, hotel took us in at a days notice when original hotel had to cancel, and really did us proud. Everything we had originally asked for were given. Well done Sue for coordinating everything at such short notice, and Ken and his staff for making this a complete success from what could have been a disaster. Already booked for next year.

Room Tip: We had over 40 attending and had no complaints from anyone regarding rooms, not much traffic noise a...

Mac Danae Reunion
A nearby hotel had to cancel our year long planned reunion at extremely short notice. Fortunately they recommended the Sandpiper. Kenny and his team at the Sandpiper swung into action and saved the day. Not only did they manage to take us at short notice but with a lot of organisation they actually manged to billet all 45 of us and provide the planned menus that we had all preselected.
The Staff were all professional friendly and coped admirably with the extra bodies that had suddenly been thrust upon them. A special mention must be made of Pam who not only held the fort on reception but did a stirling job behind the bar
They have a hidden star in the Chef who's food is brilliant and produced to a high standard over the two days the group were there we were all in agreement on the high standard set by the kitchen and dining room staff.
The bedrooms are large and en-suite. Our room was clean and as far as I was aware there were no complaints from any of the group about their rooms a mean feat in itself , well done the housekeeping staff
Although the hotel is a little way out of Chesterfield (3 Miles) this is no detriment as there is a regular bus service (half hourly) to and from Chesterfield which drops you outside the hotel.
All in all a most enjoyable stay and one in which we hope to repeat next year.

Room Tip: Although the front of the hotel is is on the main road side I would opt for that side rather than th...

We decided to stay at the sandpiper hotel as we wanted to visit chatsworth house. The hotel is lovely and there is little to criticise! The room was clean and tidy, the breakfast was cooked well and tasted nice. Overall this hotel is a great hotel and it is a great price! The staff are also very friendly and welcoming, and recommended a great restaurant for us to visit. The only one problem we encountered was the bed seemed to be on wheels and even the slightest lean or movement sent it moving across the floor!
