A last minute decision to have a day out was a very good one. The hall was "free" as we are national Trust members and we thoroughly enjoyed starting with a storytelling session about Bess of Hardwick. Full marks to the volunteer who really knew how to tell a good story and stay historically accurate (my history geek husband was very impressed!). We also visited the restaurant and to my joy, all kinds of diets were catered for, including diabetes (extra points for this!). The order took for ever but that apart we had a great day and there were lots of activities for children and family groups we spotted too.
