“Grandsons loved it.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

We took a train from Nottingham to have a day out exploring Chesterfield. My two grandsons, aged 9 and 5 years were interested in the crooked spire .
The museum was good, as the man explaining about the huge wheel and how the spire became crooked explained it all so well, they were on about it for days.
There was an exhibition on at the time we went of edwardian toys which the boys enjoyed, purchasing some at the shop .
A visit to the spire, together with lunch in the town made for a good day.
We even nipped back to the museum again before we went home as the boys were determined to get a nine..the top score on the table skittles ...which Oliver did.

“The story of Chesterfield”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

I have lived in Chesterfield for 9 years and this was my first visit to the museum. I didn't know Chesterfield was famous for so many things. The museum houses the windlass used to build the town's church. The guide was very helpful. I will certainly make a return visit to find out more about the town.

“A small museum”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

We visited the museum whilst staying in Chesterfield. It took us around 30 minutes to walk round and although was interesting in parts it was rather small. We didn't like the art gallery either displaying one artist's work which we didn't care for. There was a disply on the Vikings which was good for children and well thought out.

“Interesting.”

This is well worth a visit. It is well laid out with really good information about Chesterfield, the industry and buildings. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and enjoyed chatting with us. Its free entry which is good. They have a short video about Chesterfield.
