“Good afternoon tea, poor service”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

Went for afternoon tea here which was very pleasant, lovely setting and the sandwiches, cake and tea was delicious. However the service was very slow. After the delivery of our food and drink, we didn't see the staff again. We waited for 20mins for the bill and we were keen to head off to beat the traffic. It wasn't busy, but the staff hung around chatting. When we finally found somebody to get the bill for us, she disappeared and somebody else brought the bill much later explaining the waitress had simply just left. Very disappointing. However I wouldn't let it put me off coming again as the food was good.

“Lunch - very pleasant setting but not value for money”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

Four of us had lunch here. Two of us had open prawn and crayfish sandwiches which were nice but quite small - one small slice of bread with prawns/crayfish, some lettuce and crisps. One order was for brown bread and the other for white although both came as brown. These were £8.50 which I think is quite expensive for what we got. Another meal was ploughmans, but agains I don't think this really came up to the description and at £13.50 would have expected more - some bread, two bits of cheese, a fairly small piece of pork pie and salad. The final meal was haddock and chips for £13.50 and this was probably the best value.

That said, we sat inside and the venue was very nice and stylish with glass walls in what looked to be old stone stables. We could have sat outside but that was on plastic (nice) chairs and I think value for money would have been less. Staff were very pleasant and the meals/drinks came within the right amount of time.

“Very nice”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Whilst visiting Chatsworth House we decided to have lunch at the Cavendish Rooms which we were not left disappointed with. The sun was out and we were able to sit outside in the court yard. Although the menu is only small, what was on it looked very nice. We had the ploughman's platter and stable platter, both recommended. Unfortunately, and I'm sure it's the location, it was a tad expensive for what was essentially a plate of sandwiches and some meats and a couple of glasses of wine, but it all in all very good and with very good service too.

“Afternoon Tea”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Just arrived home from one of our trips to Chatsworth, beautiful scenery, intending to eat there as usual, decide on the champagne afternoon tea, one of my great pleasures in my life, I was not to be dissapointed, beautiful champagne in a beautiful glass, a very relaxed atmosphere, very pleasant young staff, extra sandwiches if reqiured, the right ammount of cakes and cream scones, perfect tea not a tea bag in sight. Can't wait for the next time.
