“Spa Day- Food good, spa very bad and beauty salon needed a good clean.”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

I have given this one point but this is too much for it. This spa is disgustingly dirty, the toilets in the salon area do not work properly, blocked at 9.30am, the lockers did not lock, the floor needed a good clean, the pool had tiles missing and the whole place looks as though it wanted scrubbing from top to bottom. The garden needed weeding as the weeds were a foot high. The beauty salon staff needed some training on how to give treatments, client care and how to keep equipment clean. I purchased this for myself and some friends to have a lovely day together but was utterly disgusted with the whole experience except for the beautiful lunch that was prepared by an apprentice chef. I will never go there again or recommend it to anyone!

“Won't bother again”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

We booked a 'SPA DAY' through Groupon, expecting a tranquil relaxing small break. How wrong we were! Showed around very quickly by a lady who didn't seem to want to be there, plus her clothing was really dirty. Our first impressions were not good, the place had a totally unrelaxing atmosphere, the walls and floor were dirty, plus the courtyard and areas looked like they had not been weeded for the longest time. We briefly looked through the door window into the pool area and realised that the only so called lounging chairs were those hard white plastic garden chairs.

In a hope that things would get better, we decided to change into gym clothes and headed for the changing rooms. The female changing rooms were quite pleasant (compared to the rest of the place) and were clean and tidy. However, my partner reported that the men's changing rooms were dirty and had bits of plaster/flooring missing.

The gym was spread between three different rooms, but were relatively ok, with a fair amount of cardio equipment, but some of the weight machines were not working.

We then decided to try to find somewhere quiet to just sit and relax for a bit, and were told the only place was the bar - which had loud music blaring and no relaxing chairs. After that we decided to leave.

This place may report to being a SPA, but it certainly is not - more like a cheap, dirty leisure centre that offers the odd spa treatment. Total waste of money, time, energy and petrol. Don't even waste your breath going.

“Generally good”
Reviewed 23 July 2013 via mobile

The manor offered us the groupon deal despite missing out through groupon, this was very impressive. We arrived and were shown around briefly by a very confusing lady, but we found our way around anyway. The downstairs changing rooms are small but I thought clean. My friend said the upstairs changing room, which she saw as she wanted to use the gym, was nicer but she didn't want to walk through the gym in her swimwear so ruled it out.

The jacuzzi and steam room were good and the pool was nice. We felt comfortable using the facilities. Some of us chose to have treatments.. We were all pretty much ignored in the salon until it was time for our treatments, a member of staff even got their nails done while one of us were waiting! Not a good impression.

I was with my friend in a double treatment room which we weren't told about but was ok. However the window and blind were wide open and we were expected to strip for our massage. We had to ask for the blind to be shut. The window was also out onto the children's play area, we heard children screaming and parents yelling as we waited and we asked for the window to be shut as we didn't want to hear this but the request was not granted till it got really loud.

My friend said that the lady who did her massage had a runny nose and kept wiping her nose with her hand and yawning - not nice. My massage was ok, but nothing to write home about.

The food was excellent. We all enjoyed this and said we would go back just to eat. Fab home cooked food.

All in all, 6/7 out of 10 and would be willing up try again to see how it went.

“Awful Spa Day”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

Like Katie5103 went on a voucher offer of a Spa day. Dirty unhygienic swimming facilities, tiles missing on pool bottom, false finger nail on side of pool not recent. Lockers broken or no keys, seating area outside a joke assorted plastic or old wooden seats, loungers repaired with plastic clothes lines. Glasses still on tables from night before. Quick swim then left. Waste of petrol from Derby, waste of petrol if you lived round the corner.

“Great food, great salon, poor spa”
Reviewed 12 July 2013

Just returned from a groupon spa day..the cost was just £8 for 2.. The building and spa is old and tired and much in need of an overhaul.. It's quite dirty inside and out..The pool was nice... No loungers just plastic garden chairs. Basic changing facilities dowstairs.. we used the upstairs changing area, much nicer, the jacuzzi was too warm but otherwise nice. Staff were lovely and friendly. The steam room resembled a white plastic box.. With questionable cleanliness. The food is amazing... As is the salon, I had a full body hot stone massage.. This could be a lovely spa with some basic cleaning and overhauling. Worth £4 each but would be very disappointed if I had paid more. Such a shame. I guess 10 years ago it would have been lovely.
