We're great fans of Wetherspoon pubs - always great food value, and whenever we're out for the day, we try to find one.
However, our visit to the Spa Lane Vaults was a slight disappointment. My wife ordered, as usual, the salmon salad, which has always arrived with a fair-sized grilled salmon fillet on a bed of salad leaves, cucumber and tomatoes. This time, however, the salmon arrived completely mashed-up (fragmented) and mixed in within the salad. This looked less than appetising, and was lukewarm and rubbery. My wife said 'This is tinned', and I agreed - she went and spoke to the waiter, and was assured that it was not tinned, but it was the 'new policy' of JDW to serve it like this. Having seen many salmon fillets, we both feel that we know how a freshly-grilled fillet 'flakes' when cut - and this salmon was not like that! If this is the 'new policy' then - memo to JDW - please change it back!!
