It was a last minute decision to stay at this pub with accommodation, and a good decision it turned out to be.
Located in,of all places, a housing estate, it's handy for Chesterfield itself and, of course the fabulous Peak District, the reason for our visit,
Andy and his wife Vicky gave a very warm and friendly welcome before showing us to our room. If you want 5 star luxury, this is't it. It's a room above a pub/festaurant. The room was absolutely spotless, not a speck of dust. A great view of Chesterfields famous spire from the window. The en suite room came with everything you need, flat screen tv, toiletries, ample towels and a very comfortable armchair that I fell asleep in!
We decided to eat downstairs on our first night. I had the venison pudding, my partner had the Hunters Chicken, the food was excellent!! I've paid a heck of a lot more in upper class restaurants where the standard of food came nowhere close! And the chips are hand cut proper chips! I would go back just for the chips!
If you want to go to bed at 9pm this is not the place for you, it is a pub and they are never the quietest places.
A night spent in the bar was great. Very friendly regulars, a decent pint and a very nice looking female singer, a good nights entertainment.
I would recommend the Lockorford Inn, warm and friendly, great food and good value for money.
