“Very pleasant and friendly”

I stayed at the Lockoford Inn because I was attending a business meeting in Chesterfield the following day. The hosts couldn't have been more welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and the room, although basic, was comfortable and very clean with a huge en suite bathroom. Dinner in the bar was great and breakfast the following morning was very adequate. At only £40.00 B&B I thought it excellent value, I highly recommend the Lockoford Inn and would stay there again if I go back to Chesterfield.

Being an Australian bloke, I was extremely excited to be staying in accommodation above a pub. We were in town for a wedding, and the bride's family just so happened to live across the road from a great pub call the Lockoford Inn. We (couple) had 4 nights here in a generously large room with a large ensuite, and couldn't have been happier with it...it even had two double beds. We weren't expecting a 4-5 star lavish hotel room, and we didn't get it either. Instead, this was a typical room above a pub, with everything we needed for a few nights in town. Andy and Vicky were amazing hosts, cooking us a delicious brekky each morning, and always more than happy to say hello and have a chat each time we saw them - even when I came stumbling in at 6am after a big stag/bucks night.

Without a doubt the rest of our family and friends all came to the Lockoford for a few drinks, and a meal on more than one occasion, and even for a music quiz on a Sunday night. Whilst only a small pub in a quiet-ish area, on a couple of occasions the atmosphere was live and bubbly, with a good number of epople enjoying the high-20's temperatures and sunny skies.

So if you are after a friendly, enjoyable, salt-of-the-earth place to stay in Chesterfield, this is your place. It's affordable (40 quid for two people per night in a room with two double beds anda large ensuite), has great hosts, great atmosphere, good hearty food, pool table, dart board, juke box, music quiz night, and a great outdoor seating and smoking area. Not to mention it is only a 5 minute drive from the centre of town, and our room had a great view of the spire. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy Chesterfield with some locals.

It was a last minute decision to stay at this pub with accommodation, and a good decision it turned out to be.
Located in,of all places, a housing estate, it's handy for Chesterfield itself and, of course the fabulous Peak District, the reason for our visit,
Andy and his wife Vicky gave a very warm and friendly welcome before showing us to our room. If you want 5 star luxury, this is't it. It's a room above a pub/festaurant. The room was absolutely spotless, not a speck of dust. A great view of Chesterfields famous spire from the window. The en suite room came with everything you need, flat screen tv, toiletries, ample towels and a very comfortable armchair that I fell asleep in!
We decided to eat downstairs on our first night. I had the venison pudding, my partner had the Hunters Chicken, the food was excellent!! I've paid a heck of a lot more in upper class restaurants where the standard of food came nowhere close! And the chips are hand cut proper chips! I would go back just for the chips!
If you want to go to bed at 9pm this is not the place for you, it is a pub and they are never the quietest places.
A night spent in the bar was great. Very friendly regulars, a decent pint and a very nice looking female singer, a good nights entertainment.
I would recommend the Lockorford Inn, warm and friendly, great food and good value for money.

Found the place at night by taking the bus a few stops, then walking less than a mile. Not too hard, especially with a smartphone! Really nice place-charming building, nice atmosphere. The room was huge! and the bedding was great. The only problem I had was the shower was ice cold! Other than that it was great. I could see the crooked spire from my window!
