having suddenly to come north for a funeral could have be very fraught. However, knowing about Premier Inns made life an awful lot easier!

Helpful staff - Kevin - friendly and efficient. Breakfast excellent, as I knew it would be!

Yet again Premier Inn has surprised me with their top quality standards and service. We specifically were looking for a cheap weekend away and found this hotel at £30 per night for a family room. Once we have found our hotel we then seek attractions around it so for us the “base camp” is always the most important part of planning. The hotel room was very clean indeed. There was a slight stain on the bathroom floor, but it was obvious that this was something not easily removed (it actually looked like paint). This was not a problem whatsoever but I can see how some folk would complain about this...it’s the floor, and it was clean. Our 6 year old took to crawling under the bed which made me cringe, but when she emerged she was not covered in fluff (as expected!). I looked under the bed and it really was immaculate, not a speck of dust or fluff. So clean in fact that we were happy for her to play her console under there in the dark. The bed was clean and fresh, there was a choice of pillows, a clean window we could open and room temperature controls. The tea and coffee facilities were welcome after our 2 hour drive, and we even went to get some more milk as I like a milky tea at no extra cost. The breakfast at the adjoining pub was also very good, very well maintained, clean, plentiful and with very attentive staff who circulated and interacted with us whilst we ate, (making sure we were all ok). I would definitely come back, we are even talking already of coming back later in the year. My one tip, if you are going to be eating in the adjoining pub (The Lock Keeper), BOOK IT. We did not eat at night after our days excursions as it was very busy and we could not get a table. They did say we could wait in the play area – but that was rank and disgusting...so we drove out and ate elsewhere (Frankie and Benny’s, it was poor see my review!).

This comfortable little hotel is on a direct route into Chesterfield, close to the M1, and all the local attractions are within easy reach. It is clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable but at the same time professional. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They are the hotel's best asset. Good to have a restaurant serving meals throughout the day. Plenty of choice, competative prices and special,"all you can eat" evenings.

Room Tip: If you need a room that has been adapted avoid number 1 if you can. It is right against the stairs...
