“Beautiful setting”
Reviewed 5 July 2018 for a stay in June 2018

The boathouse is in a lovely quiet setting and is perfect for a relaxing break. The views over the lake were perfect and we enjoyed sitting in the conservatory and watching the wildlife. The jukebox was much appreciated as was the welcome bottle of prosecco. The owner, Nigel, was very helpful and friendly. The local pub/restaurant is very good and there are several other pubs nearby. The hot tub was a nice feature, but being of short stature I would have appreciated a step to help me climb in! Overall it was a lovely holiday and we hope to return one day.

“A little piece of heaven in Derbyshire ”

Booked this little hideaway for a special birthday, I wanted somewhere within an hours drive, that was secluded, in attractive surroundings and had a private hot tub. This ticked all the boxes and more! I read the excellent reviews and booked. It was a little tricky to find because it’s in a small hamlet, the only sign is on the stone wall saying ‘old schoolhouse’ but once we arrived we received a warm and friendly welcome from Nigel the owner. It’s a completely separate building next to Nigel’s Home but it’s not overlooked and it feels very private. We were impressed with the level of thought that clearly Nigel has given to making your stay as comfortable as possible. My favourite bits were the jukebox with hundreds of tracks, great fun, the beautiful view of the lake and surrounding countryside, the hot tub and the log burner on the patio. It’s well equipped and maintained well. We appreciated the welcome bottle of proscecco if I was to recommend anything it would be to have towelling robes provided for hot tub, and anti slip mats on the decking. We visited the local pub which was very nice, we didn’t eat there but the menu looked good.
This is a place we would not hesitate in returning too and indeed hope too.

We stayed here for 2 days and wished it could be longer. Place is lovely and quiet and very secluded. Boathouse is quirky and clean. Enjoyed sitting on the decking overlooking the lake listening to the dukebox in the conservatory. Also enjoyed the hottub. Nigel the owner is very pleasant and helpful. Hope to return next year.

“Lovely few days”
Reviewed 30 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

My Husband and I often get away for quiet breaks usually involving hot tubs. This ticked all the boxes. Nigel was on hand to welcome us and was very friendly. We enjoyed our few days away, we did absolutely nothing which is just what we needed. We will probably be back.
