“Not a five star experience”

First time in the peek district Fantastic area the B&B is clean and we were made to feel welcome. The hot tub is situated in the back of a cow shed that has various uses this maybe an attraction to some people who have never been on a farm but not as romantic as was advertised.Bakewell is a short walk and the bus stops outside if you want to leave the car.

We have just spent 3 relaxing days with Marilyn and Bill, they are the most welcoming hosts and provide 1st class accomodation plus great food. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in Bakewell!

What a GREAT place to stay.

Marilyn and Bill made us very welcome, The room we stayed in "Spring Meadow Room" was Great, lovely decor sumptuous bed and all the home comforts you could ask for. Breakfast was to the same high standard, nothing was to much trouble.
Good recommendations for a good pub meal "Bulls Head" at nearby Ashford in the Water.

We will definitely stay with marilyn and Bob again.

Thank You for your Hospitality.

Nick & Jinny.

I am sorry to say that I was apalled by the service at this bed and breakfast. The website offers a warm welcome when in fact our experience was the complete antithesis of that. I had explained we had a toddler aged 2 and was informed that this would not be a problem as children were welcome. However upon arrival we discovered no high chair at breakfast and not even a booster seat. The breakfast table was within a few inches of the cooker and my back was almost touching the frying pan handle which is very dangerous. My childs place was directly in front of the frying pan which I feel is very irresponsible of the couple running this establishment. Our bedroom was up two flights of stairs and yet there were no stair gates. No milk was supplied in the room in order to make cups of tea as we wished - we had to ask for milk and when we returned at the end of our first day there nobody was available to ask. No bin liner had been put in our bin and a peppermint tea box was empty. C.D's were missing from their covers and the folder of information was filled with patronising instructions such as having to ask for a demonstration to use the television as it had access to sky. I have to say resentment that we were even present filled the air from the moment we arrived and there was a feeling as though we were in someone elses house and not welcome. in addition, there was no shower which for some is a bit of a problem. In our case we found the water to be scalding hot - far too hot to wash our hands in and we were unable to let our toddler was their hands unless the basin was filled first. I am disappointed to have to write this because we paid £200 for a two night stay and felt that should have afforded us some reassurance that we were going to be catered for. This bed and breakfast seem to think you are intruding in their house and I don't feel that is a good way of running a business

  • Disliked — That we were treated like unwelcome pests in someone elses house

I haven't had anyone by this name stay. But I did have some guests check out leaving stains on a brand new £1,200 carpet. I suspect that is who is this. Rarely do we have to call in the professional cleaners with steam cleaners after a guest leaves: but in this case there were stains all over a brand new carpet. The guests refused to return my phone calls day after day (to ask what the stains were so the cleaners could target them with appropriate solvents). Finally when we did speak, I encountered a young woman who clearly is under a lot of strain.
Looking at her comments, there's a plastic bag missing, too much hot water, and the range of herbal teas offered has been so popular that there is an empty box. Well, I've stayed in worse places!

A fantastic B&B. Best breakfast I've had in any B&B. Friendly owners, great views, clean. A little walk to town but well worth it.
