This was our 2nd stay at the Peacock, and it was as great as the first time 2 years ago. We stayed midweek, for two nights and even had the same room, No.5. Very trendy and
modern, spotlessly clean, with a comfy 4 poster bed and sofa, all this and yet it was one of the cheaper rooms. The location, is perfect for visiting Bakewell, Chatsworth and walking in the beautiful Peak District. We had amazing weather, so were able to eat outside on our first evening. As on our first visit, the food is outstanding, beautifully presented, and the portions are huge. We ate there both nights, and the standard is extremely high. Breakfast in the morning was no less of a feast, with amazing choice, and all cooked fresh to order. All the staff, especially the owner, were very helpful and couldn’t have made our stay any better. We will definitely be back again, and would highly recommend anyone staying here.

So we stayed here a couple of nights and found that the rooms where comfortable and the location great in the middle of Bakewell. The first night I found it hard to sleep as you kan hear conversations of other guests literally. So better isolation of the rooms would be nice. Food and staff are both great and staff did their best to make parking easy for us.

thepeacockbakewell, If you're quiet, you're not living. You've got to be noisy and colourful and lively, at The Peacock Bakewell, responded to this reviewResponded 4 weeks ago

I fully understand your comments re:; noisy rooms travelling_nerd and fully appreciate your comments, but it's not rooms that are noisy, but people - seems to me that your second night you weren't so disturbed because the rooms were quieter!!!

Obviously we didn't isolate them as you suggest, it was simply a fact of the new arrivals the following night were quieter to put it bluntly, so although you sort of 'have a go' shall we say - it doesn't really matter how isolated the rooms were if noisy people are noisy, then they are going to be noisy, and I often think another way of looking at it is - nothing makes you more tolerant of a neighbour's noisy party than being there.

You may talk of the tyranny of Nero and Tiberius; but the real tyranny is the tyranny of your next-door neighbour whether they are next door, or next door or any door next to you - if you get the drift!

Regardless of your noisy neighbour - not the noisy room, I'm sure you had a lovely time over the two nights in Bakewell, at the Peacock and embraced the great food and staff, who will always do their best whatever the request!!!!

Yes - great location too!

Thanks for the review - don't take my response too seriously, as I'm just having a little fun!!!

When we arrived we thought all the tables were booked for Father's day, we were quite surprised to be offered a table straight away. We both had a Sunday lunch, I had turkey and my husband had the lamb, the meat just melted in your mouth and there was plenty vegetables, potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding was massive. We ate everything on the plate, it was just beautiful.

Room Tip: only had food here.

First time visitor to this lovely town. Only here four nights and didn't discover Peacock until our last night. What a shame for us!! Absolutely amazing fresh cooked food. Best pub food i have had in a long while. Large portions too. We all cleared our plates ! Too good to leave any. Were all stuffed!! Great ambience, lovely staff, good beers, jukebox a real delightful blast from the past. Well done to management and all sraff. I wish we had a local pub half as good! Highly recommend. Will be back next holiday.

Real Gem lovewilf - yes I totally agree, and thank you unreservedly for your very kind chosen words!

Many a visitor shares your view of wishing they had a local pub half as good, and that thought alone makes our job so worthwhile!!!
