Loved Harry and Penny, as well as the stone farm home, pastoral setting and drive to nearby Bakewell and nearby attractions. Great breakfast. Comfortable, clean ensuite room. We'll definitely return to stay with our new friends. -Jeff and Marcy, Nebraska, USA

Harry and Penny were precious, the animals were adorable and the setting unbelievable. The room and bathroom were spotless, the bed was comfy and the food delicious. I want to live there permanently! It was my first trip to England and Gratton Grange was PERFECT.

We stayed with Penny and Harry for one night but would very much have liked to stay for at least another day or two. Their historic farmhouse is located in a beautiful part of the Peak District near Bakewell which would reward further exploration and the warm hospitality at Gratton Grange made this a memorable visit.

The farmhouse is some centuries old (parts of the building are older than others). The rooms have been carefully restored to provide modern comfort (warmth and plumbing) without diminishing the charm of the structure. Our room (the Blue Room) was beautiful, with a lovely outlook, very comfortable bed and en suite bathroom with bath and shower.

We had arranged with Penny in advance for an evening meal after our arrival and she prepared a delicious roast, followed by blackberry crumble and cream. Breakfast was equally excellent. Penny and Harry could not have been kinder.

Although our stay was short, we were able to visit Cromford Mill and Chatsworth House, both of which are within 10-15 mins drive from Gratton Grange. We also spent an hour or two in the nearby town of Bakewell which is an attractive place with good shops and seems especially well set up for walkers/hikers.

Very highly recommended.

We stayed for a weekend in October and had a very pleasant stay. Because of traffic we didn't arrive until gone 10pm on the Friday. We had to call Penny and she gave us directions and waited for us at the gate to wave us in. If you see a sign for Gratton leading up someone's driveway - ignore it. Just go down the graveled road instead.

We stayed in the lemon room, which is a double ensuite. It was absolutely beautiful - lemon and cream, lovely little bathroom, exposed beams, window seat. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast includes orange juice, yogurt, cereal and a full English breakfast.

The B&B is remote, down one-track country roads, but very pretty and close to Bakewell and Chatsworth. Penny and Harry were lovely and very helpful. It was my birthday on the Sunday and I got a card, chocolates and flowers in our room! What a lovely touch!

I would recommend this B&B to anyone with a car (as it's remote) who wants to explore the south Peak District area and like old-fashioned, romantic farmhouses!

It's not just the location, the accomodation, the facilities the room, the breakfast, the atmosphere, or the quality of this delightful farmhouse bed and breakfast that deserves it's perfect rating. What makes it stand head and shoulders above everywhere we have ever stayed are the hosts, Harry and Penny. There was absolutely nothing they could have done to have made our stay any better than it was. We stayed one night, and we felt like we were staying with old friends. We came away with only one issue, that we could not stay another night due to previous commitments. It's too easy to say that you fall in love with a place, be we did. We will be back and we will recommend this B&B to everyone we know.

I can't recommend Gratton Grange and Harry and Penny highly enough. They were absolutely fantastic - really friendly, helpful hosts who have restored Gratton Grange beautifully. We arrived quite late on the first night and they kindly called the local pub to tell them we were on our way to eat just before they stopped serving. The rooms at GG were really lovely - comfortable, warm, beautiful views and nicely decorated; the location fantastic (superb walks on your doorstep), the breakfasts delicious, the dogs great fun and Penny and Harry went out of their way to help us (tea to see us on our way home..!). Thanks Penny and Harry! Will definitely be returning!
