“Great B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2013

We booked 2 nights at this B&B and were very impressed. On arrival we had coffee and homemade cake- delicious. The rooms were lovely, exceptionally clean, tastefully decorated. John and Sue are very friendly and thoughtful to the needs of their guests. Breakfast was a delight, nothing too much trouble and we would have no hesitation in returning and also recommending it to anyone.

This was our second visit to Bakewell and Normanhurst and it is still wonderful. The property is still very well maintained and the breakfast is still freshly prepared and very good with a nice variety. John and Sue are most helpful in suggestions for things to do. Knowing that we were planning on renting bikes and biking what we had biked before, John mentioned the newly reclaimed railroad bed for biking We were there during the March snowstorm and heading to Wales in the morning. Without asking, John cleared our car off from snow (we didn't have a snow removal brush in the rental car). so that made our departure a little less difficult. Another wonderful stay with great innkeepers. Thank you Sue and John!

A lovely warm welcome from John and Sue with tea and cake. Our room was beautiful and spotless. Breakfasts were delicious and just what was needed before some superb walking in the area. Bus stop near door takes you to start of Monsal Trail at Blackwell; walk this fantastic trail to Bakewell and back to the B&B. Close to Chatsworth too. Perfect!

The house and rooms are beautiful, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. John and Sue are very personable, friendly and a great source of information. The location is great - both Bakewell and Ashford are walkable in 10-20 minutes. The breakfast was excellent.

Impossible to fault.

We stayed with John and Sue Hooper for 3 nights. We stayed in room nr 2. It was devided in two: the bedroom and separate the shower. It was on the back of the garden overlooking a field It was a quiet room and is was very clean.
The only problem we had was that the bed was hard.
Breakfast was great (it included fresh fruit).
John and Sue made us feel at home.

Room Tip: Room nr 2 is on the back overlooking a field, it is a quiet room.

I booked a 3 night stay at this B&B based on the reviews here and I was not disappointed. John & Sue are by far the friendliest people I have met who run a B&B. Well B&B is not really doing it justice...it felt like I was a long lost niece who had come to stay with an Auntie & Uncle. They made my friend and I feel very welcome and were happy to assist in anything we required. Their local knowledge was second to none and we shared a few humourous stories at breakfast! The house is immaculate, it seemed like it had just been decorated. The quality of furnishings were outstanding. Breakfast was amazing...so much choice and the smell of fresh bread baking of an evening was just superb. I will almost certainly be staying here again when I am down that way and already have recommended to numerous people.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 3 which was a twin room...very spacious with a light airy feel. We had full and ex...
