Lovely place to stay in beautiful Derbyshire countryside with spectacular surroundings. Walking distance to centre of Bakewell. Staff (especially Martin) were so helpful and made our stay more enjoyable. HRH Approved

For the money we paid we expected big things. In reality we were very disappointed. The location was ideal for popping in and out of Bakewell by foot and the staff although mostly absent where pleasant and happy to accommodate us. The room however was tatty and outdated without any of the olden days charm. Instead we stayed in a poor quality room for the price, and were left imprisoned by the shutters on the inside of the windows as there were no curtains or blinds in the main room. Again the shutters where tatty and in need of some tlc. Overall the hotel provided little other than for walls and a modern bathroom. Bang average but for the price not worth it and a massive let down.

This guest has obviously not stayed in a 350-year-old grade 2 star listed building before. The room in question has a corniced ceiling, panelled walls, marble fireplace, two window seats and shutters at the windows, which is exactly what most guests wish to see in a building of such historic value. Less than 10% of historic buildings achieve a grade 2 star listing. To say they were expecting curtains and were “imprisoned by the shutters” is an unbelievable statement to make.

The bathrooms are modern as stated using Villeroy & Boch sanitaryware and power showers, and some rooms also have large double-ended baths.

We have designed the rooms with local names, using different contemporary furnishings in each. Some have a French style, others are more modern with superking size, deep buttoned leather beds and mirrored furniture.
We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our rooms and for this guest to state that we only provide “little other than for [sic] walls and a modern bathroom” means they must have been walking around with their eyes closed!!

We rang late for a room. Was not aware at the time it is an aparthotel. Lovely room excellent service and as there was no restaurant etc the lady who was in charge said she would cook uus a breakfast and we had it served to us in our room which was really lovely. If you are wanting to stay a few days and self cater this is just the place.

Excellent communication when booking to arrange checking in late, very helpful and warm welcome. Room was very warm, clean and comfortable with many unexpected extras including kitchen. Delightful dining room and lounge with wide range of interesting books and games. Very close to town centre, where spoilt for choice with restuarants and pubs, excellent views, adequate parking.

Bagshaw hall is something special. In a spectacular building with superb staff. Upon booking with bagshaw we were given a number to call when we arrived. Which we did and was greeted by one of the owners of bagshaw, who was extremely helpful in helping us to our apartment, helped with the bags and told us everything we needed to know. They were so comforting and made us feel at home immediately. The room we stayed in was a delight. Had everything we needed and more and was very impressed with all the fixtures and fittings. Everything was so nicely done! We had also brought bikes with us and as we didnt want to leave the bikes outside, the staff were more than happy to show us the key to the garage in the car park in which we could safely park the bike.

The location of Bagshaw is ideal for bakewell. Couldn't be in a much better spot as we were only a couple of minutes walk from the town center and far enough from any busy roads to sleep in total peace!

Would reccomend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Bakewell!

Bagshaw Hall is a hotel with luxury boutique pretensions, not least on price. Sadly it falls far short on even the basics. On arrival guests face their first challenge - finding someone to check them in, until you notice the piece of paper with a mobile number on to call taped to the door, and then expect the answer machine... not good when you are tired after a long trip. We had to google the landline to make contact.

Rooms in the 'Sleep Lodge' are adequate, but the wi-fi doesn't reach them all and, if you arrive late, no heating until about 4 am when they turn into saunas! The members of our party who booked a luxury apartment had no hot water on the morning of a wedding. The fire alarm went off at 1 am in our block which could be just bad luck, but again we had to use the mobile to contact someone to turn it off after about 15 minutes standing in the cold car park. No room check or reason for the alarm was given.

Breakfast is served in the room (no dining rom) half an hour later than requested causing us knock-on problems for the day. The only options being fried or continental. The fried consists of what you are given, more resembling a 'greasy spoon' caff, no juice and a couple of slices soggy white toast, with instant coffee to wash it down. Such a pity as it has a beautiful setting on the hill overlooking the town (unless you are disabled). Avoid in it present management.

Room Tip: avoid this place!
