We had pre-booked a room at Bagshaw Hall to celebrate my 30th birthday.
On arrival we were underwhelmed to say the least as we were led round the back of the hall to an annexe and showed to our room.
The room itself was both smelly and grubby - it was described as luxurious and this could not have been further from the truth; everything about the room was tired and very cheap looking!
We spoke to the manager Georgina about our concerns, she offered no solution/resolution at all and when I said I would not be staying she became very defensive and said she would still be charging for the full price of the room - as she already had our credit card detalis from when we made the reservation, I said I would not be paying for room as the pictures/description was very misleading and not what I expected, she responded by saying she would take us to court for theft and fraud (?!)
A short while later she then suggested that she had a room available in the main hall but we would need to pay the difference if we chose this option!
Overall, the room was very disappointing and in my opinion extremely overpriced, the unhelpful attutude of the 'manager' just added to my poor experience, not a good way to celebrate my birthday - would not recommed to anyone!

Had a great time in the Peak District, we brought two dogs this time, and the accommodation was superb. The location of Bagshaw Hall is quiet and gives a nice view of the Bakewell centrum, a short walk away from a nice meadow to walk the dogs, and close to shops and restaurants.
Do try the Bakewell pudding and tart!
We will be back!

We have just spent a weekend at Bagshaw Hall. We stayed in the Rutland Suite in the main building. Lovely apartment over 2 floors. Fully fitted kitchen and sitting area the ground floor and large bedroom/bathroom on the first floor. Loved the garden area and enjoyed a bottle of wine overlooking the views across Bakewell and the countryside.
We had a friendly welcome and were shown around our apartment and the hotel. It's a 2 minute walk into Bakewell where there are plently of places to eat if you don't want to self cater both for breakfast and other meals.
Our kitchen was well equiped so we had the choice to eat in or out, which suited us as we were not tied to 'hotel' meal times.
Will certainly stay again.

We stayed in the Chatsworth Suite which was large, very comfortable and very good views over Bakewell. Location is excellent, only 5 mins walk into town, down steepish hill, since the hall is located on Bagshaw Hill. Relatively modern styling in the room with a large double bath for a decadent soak. We enjoyed sipping wine in the garden downstairs admiring the Bakewell view.
Surprised that the toiletries, tea and coffee in the room were not of a quality, matching the room. Otherwise, we had a very relaxing stay.

We've stayed here twice and enjoyed it very much both times (we've stayed in the Hall itself so cannot comment on the sleep-lodge). The rooms are large and well equipped, very nicely furnished and warm. Lovely views from the rooms. Having small kitchen areas is really helpful for morning teas, breakfast etc (or keeping wine cold!)

When we arrived we phoned the number posted on the door and were shown almost immediately to our room (No 6). Although our room was in the basement it was bright and had a door out to the garden which was a lovely feature- we enjoyed our breakfast on the patio overlooking Bakewell the following morning. The walk into town is about 2 minutes; great for popping down to the Co-op or Spar for snacks etc and also accessing pubs, restaurants and transport connections.

The kitchenette only had a microwave (no hob or oven) but there were good tea and coffee making facilities, including cafetiere coffee. Our only slight gripe was the small quantity of milk- maybe one pint in the fridge provided would be a nice touch? The bathroom was well-appointed with an excellent power-shower as well as a detachable shower head (handy for those showering kids?). Toiletries and a hairdryer were provided which was handy. For those alarmed by unexpected bathroom noises (!), the Sani-Flo system is quite noisy, especially when dealing with large quantities of water (e.g. when the toilet is flushed). The free Wi-Fi coverage wasn't great but I had no problem connecting to my own roaming service, even in the basement.

The building itself is magnificent, with bags of character and period features. We both felt that, given the age of the property, some of the slightly 'shabby chic' elements were forgivable. Living in an older property ourselves, we could certainly identify with slightly wonky floors, walls etc that make fixtures difficult to fit straight! The shared lobby areas were comfy and homely- don't arrive expecting polished Chatsworth-esque styling and you probably won't be disappointed.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Bagshaw Hall and will definitely return- it was a unique and unusual place to stay in an excellent location.
