What a gem this B&B is. When you look out of the bedroom window you think you're in the middle of nowhere, but it's a few minutes walk into Bakewell which is a lovely quaint town. There are so many thoughtful touches in the bedroom and bathroom like: cotton buds, plasters, packs of tissues, torch, even ear plugs! The breakfast is wonderful and we didn't need to eat until later in the afternoon. We would like to thank Mr & Mrs Dunn for a lovely stay in their house. I'm surprised that there aren't other reviews on this website.

We fancied an overnight break to Bakewell and Buxton and I struggled to find reasonably priced accommodation and after spending hours searching the internet finally found 2 Lumford Cottages.

I’m glad we did because it was perfect for us. The price was £50 for the room for one night which was considerably cheaper than anything else I found.

I was a bit concerned that it might be a mistake but as we only wanted a bed for the night I chanced it.

We arrived and were greeted by a very friendly couple who were chatty and charming. We were shown to our room which I think was the only room available for rent in this family home. The first thing that struck me was that it was extremely cosy and comfortable and then I noticed the beautiful view from the window (see photo).

We were given a set of keys and told to do our own thing and not to worry about when to come back.

We had a private bathroom next to the bedroom which was spacious and clean and included a bath and shower.

Breakfast was served to us in the bedroom which was a bit strange but as it turned out was lovely because we ate our custom made breakfast at a small table under the window and taking in the view of the river at the bottom of the garden.

Breakfast was ordered the evening before and we were offered a full English with an optional Bakewell Oat Cake (I tried it and it was very tasty), cereal and toast with a large jug of OJ and plenty of tea and coffee.

I’m surprised that this B&B is not already on here and not mentioned on other sites, it is a charming house with great hospitality and wonderful views and only a short walk from Bakewell town centre.

Highly Recommended.
