What a find! From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home.Huge ensuite room with extra little touchs like armchairs, bathrobes, books, tea and coffee and even a little stuffed kiwi on the pillow! The bed was big and comfy and the breakfasts were superb and beautifully presented. One evening Mike and Ruth invited us and fellow guests for a glass of wine ( or 3) in their conservatory overlooking the garden. Another evening I went for a wander around the village with Ruth and the highlight was a very fast and exilerating drive through beautiful countryside in their 1929 open top Alvis car.As you can see, not like your usual B& B hosts.
Great Longstone is a small village with pubs within 100 metres for dinner and only a short drive to all the delights of the Derbyshire countryside. The towns of Bakewell, Matlock and Buxton are close as are the great houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Hardwick House and plenty of great walks.
Finding a place like this is wonderful and we will definitely return as it will be like visiting old friends.
