Only one of our group of six had a poor meal but we did have to wait over an hour for it to arrive. The service was bland, not a smile in sight, and a tad unfriendly. Everything seemed to be a little tired, and it is true to say that this was a Friday night and the place was packed. Could do better!

The Ashford arms is set in the lovely village of Ashford on the water near bakewell. The staff are very friendly. We went on a Wednesday night which is steak night and the menu is very good including a 32oz steak for any one who can handle it!!!!!

Hubby and I are just back home after spending a few days around the Bakewell area (lovely town to spend a day in). We dined twice in the Ashford Arms and were not disappointed either time. Very busy - in fact especially the weekend you'd definitely need to book). We found the service very good, the wine was lovely, the food is very reasonably priced, home cooked and very very tasty. My nicest meal was the lemon seared chicken and my husband had the fillet steak which he said was delicious. Our plates were sent back completely cleared so that says it all!! I found the Ashford Arms just a lovely relaxing place to eat, have a glass of wine, and I also found the staff all to be very helpful.

Excellent. Good menu (available to see on their website) plus Specials Board. Very good value and really fast service - even though they were very busy (Well Dressing Week in the village). Best to book beforehand as very popular.

A really good menu and cooked really well. The meats were great quality and prices reasonable. You should book as it gets busy especially on summer weekends. Don't plan on having a dessert as the starter and main portions are huge!
