“What a Find”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

We have just spent the night in the Sleep Lodge Bakewell . What a perfect find this was. Near to the centre of the town but hidden away in a lovely quiet spot , We enjoyed a perfect nights sleep in a smartly furnished room. There was a clean well equipped shower room ensuite and excellent kitchenette. We have stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels that were not as well presented as this room, and can highly recommend it. JF Cheshire

Room Tip: The Ben Saunders room has good views over the town .

My friend and I had a really good stay here recently when we visited the Peak District. The apartment was just 1mins walk from the centre of Bakewell yet up a small hill so we were always able to have a good nights sleep away from any noise. Comfortable beds and a nice en-suite. No cooker but a well stocked kitchen, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer and kettle. Also a tv and dvd player - which was great when we wanted an evening in. When we arrived we found the room appeared to just be a double room but the owner very quickly turned the bed into two comfortable twin beds. Also had Wi-Fi, which was great. Very easy to book in and book out. Really good location for exploring the Peak District (and visiting Alton Towers!)

We stayed at the Sleep Lodge for one night, but wished we could have stayed for longer. It was the perfect base to explore the Peak District, located just 2 minutes walk from the centre of Bakewell.

Check-in was simple & stress-free; upon arrival we called the number provided with our booking confirmation & were greeted at our car & shown to our room by a very polite young man. He also informed us of some local attractions and the 25% discount for SleepLodge guests at the Italian restaurant in town, (which we took full advantage of!) I think people leaving negative remarks about check-in should have read the information provided upon booking their room! It really isn't rocket science!

The room was perfect, spotlessly clean and well furnished, with a huge & extremely comfortable bed (of the nicest beds I have ever slept in!) Large freeview TV, tea making facilities, small kitchenette, table & chairs, and a clean, modern bathroom, what more could you ask for?

The price was very reasonable, especially when compared to other local hotels & B&B’s I've stayed in, which don’t offer the same level of cleanliness or service as the Sleep Lodge.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor have lovely views over Bakewell and the surrounding countryside

Stayed at the Sleep Lodge for 2 nights. £175. The room was pretty basic, furnished very cheaply, but it was reasonably clean. There was a kitchenette that proved useful when we failed to find a vacant table for dinner on Saturday night. Parking was easy. Beds were a little hard with wonky headboards that banged on the wall every time you turned over. The walls are paper thin, providing the unexpected "entertainment" of eavesdropping on the neighbours. The TV refused to be turned off for any period, so we were woken several times in the night, before we found the main switch hidden behind it. On the second day we found that the courtesy tray had not been replenished and that there was no milk for the morning coffee.

Overall, poor.

Stayed here for a weekend, in the sleep lodge, located on a hill in Bakewell, walking distance to town. Bagshaw Hall is a collection of rooms, no breakfast on offer but rooms (grandly named suites as they have ensuites), have microwave, kettle and toaster. No central area to sit and meet friends
Although seemingly newly furnished the room lack attention to detail, the bathroom we had would have benefited from a good clean mould on tiles etc., and our iron needed a good clean, which was very promptly sorted out. Room was very warm and bed very comfy.
No curtains, just blinds and many windows can be looked through, not very private!
The staff we met were friendly and obliging, but this hotel is missing its potential and is expensive considering what it does not offer.
To check in you need to ring a mobile number, which is promptly answered.

First time to Sleep Lodge and definately not the last. Rooms clean with great views over a snowy landscape, and as per the website. Staff very friendly and helpful. So good we decided to stay an extra night and the staff made this so easy. Four nights in all.

My mum and I have now stayed at sleep lodge four times, and I have never been disappointed! We use at a base for doing the many walks around the Peak District. The location is great, just a 5 minute walk down a steep slope into town and only a 10 minute walk to get onto the monsal trail.
The rooms are clean, very well equipped, and very cosy! the staff have always been polite and accommodating, I would highly recommend this place!
