We have visited the Dales several times , and this was a highlight. We were attending an anniversary lunch for some friends, and decided to book for the night as well. I am
SO glad we did! We had a superb lunch, service excellent and attention to detail very good. Our room (29) was gorgeous ... it had a lovely bay window overlooking the traditional English Garden and on to the green meadows, complete with grazing cows, with the Derbyshire hills clothed in green behind that. The ensuite bathroom was fantastic, hip bath, huge sink and wonderful walk in wet room style bath. Also there were sweet blue twinkling lights in the ceiling! We left the curtains drawn overnight to enjoy the moonlit scene ... so special. The complete hotel is full of traditional stately home atmosphere, but is very comfortable and stylish too.
If you have never been to the Dales, do try Bakewell, which is a truly adorable town, and try to stay at Hassop Hall, just down the country road. Book early , and if you want dinner there , book even earlier.More
